I really have no idea what I’m going to watch today.Sorry Monday.
I wish the ice hogs were in rosemont today instead of next Sunday.

That’s fine. But unfortunately for Canadians right now we can’t just ignore politics. It’s nice to think that politics is completely separate from day to day life, but when your sovereignty and entire economy is threatened you don’t have that luxury.I prefer to keep politics out of pretty much everything. Life is much better. I express it when I vote.
Very few Americans agree with what Trump is trying to do with Canada. The ones who do are mouth breathing butt lickers. That’s fine. But unfortunately for Canadians right now we can’t just ignore politics. If it makes you feel any better, a very large contingent of us are on your side, and do not support this nonsense in any way whatsoever. At the risk of getting too far into politics, there is absolutely no need to apologize for the booing of the national anthem. I realize that the anthem means many things to many people, but to many Canadians right now, and likely most at the game last night, it is simply a representation of the country. That country, or at least the leader or that country, has been threatening to take over Canada and make it the 51st state and been starting trade wars with our country without provocation. Many Canadians, understandably, are pissed off about these actions and want to make sure to make their voices heard. It has nothing to do with the American players on the ice, nor service men and women who have risked their lives for their country. It is simply a non-violent protest against what has been happening over the past month. People may not like it, but that is the point. Maybe if Americans that are so upset at the booing of their national anthem take the time to take a step back and imagine if the shoe was on the other foot, they might feel a little differently.
I'm born and raised in America----Chicago to be exact. My wife was born in Canada. And, I can unequivocally say that any rational American thinks Trump is a moron----in general, but for this latest round of Canada, Greenland, Panama Canal, tariffs....he's doubling down on stupidity....so, while its unfair to disrespect another country's national anthem, Trump has earned that.Very few Americans agree with what Trump is trying to do with Canada. The ones who do are mouth breathing butt lickers.
I took no offense to Canadians booing the Anthems.
You would be hard pressed to find many Americans in northern states who don't have Canadian friends or family, which is what makes all of this unbearably idiotic.I'm born and raised in America----Chicago to be exact. I believe this completely. And I hope those that do feel this way are letting their elected representatives know. I feel that push back from within is the most effective way to counteract these actions. If it makes you feel any better, a very large contingent of us are on your side, and do not support this nonsense in any way whatsoever.
I don’t agree with what Trump is doing, but I am offended that our anthem was booed. It’s provocative and offensive. It’s also stupid and will only serve to escalate things for some people.Very few Americans agree with what Trump is trying to do with Canada. The ones who do are mouth breathing butt lickers.

To each their own, I guess.I don’t agree with what Trump is doing, but I am offended that our anthem was booed. It’s provocative and offensive. It’s also stupid and will only serve to escalate things for some people.
It’s fine that your initial response is to be offended, or to get angry. That is human nature. That is the point of the protest to begin with. But the hope is, after that initial feeling has subsided, you take the time to think about the reason for it. Not abstractly, or as political policies that you may or may not agree with. But as a person able to empathize with those of a vastly smaller country right across the border. Who has been nothing but a good neighbour and friend. Who has come to your aid in war. Who has been your largest and most important trading partner. And who has, literally out of nowhere, become the target of the leader of your country through no fault of their own. Who has been threatened with annexation and tariffs that would sink the economy. I suspect that if you were in that situation, your view on booing the national anthem might be a little differentI don’t agree with what Trump is doing, but I am offended that our anthem was booed. It’s provocative and offensive. It’s also stupid and will only serve to escalate things for some people.
Don’t remember that. If there were any boos, doubt it was anything like it was last night. Also important to point out that the response to the anthem last night wasn’t just a French Canadian thing. That would have happened in literally every city across the country given what is currently going on .Didn't the U.S. anthem get booed back in 2016 too? I would buy the argument now about why it is getting booed but Canadians, especially French Canadians have a history of doing it. I agree with @GIADF about not mixing politics with sports. But that's just me. I also agree Canadians have every right to be angry too.
Completely reasonable position.Have no issue people not liking the booing, nor if they are ok with it. While I don’t like politics and sports mixing, it’s not surprising considering what the guy has blabbered on about.
Wonder how many new congressional seats Canada will give us. 52 or so?I have no issue with the booing. We're helpless for at least 2 years until the midterms. And at least our state overwhelmingly voted against this garbage.
Not my leader. Only thing he's fit to lead is the Diddy fan club.A civilized debate about the booing last night. So many posts that I agree with. As a Canadian, I'm angry and offended with what your leader is doing to our country. But I don't like mixing politics and sports. And I don't see any point in taking out our anger towards him on hockey players or the posters here.
If you're not a fan of politics and sports mixing, there should be no anthems played at sporting events at all. My two cents. My main issue with the booing is I'm not a fan of politics and sports being mixed regardless of the why. I like to watch sports to get away from this kind of stuff.

Country on country sporting events are always heavily political. 1980 being the largest example of it. It's just unavoidable.
