The Four Nations Tournament is starting soon and the Hawks only have 2 games remaining until the break. We've got the "Around the NHL" thread but that's mostly for news and clips so since we all hate the main boards I wanted to hear what you all think about the pulse of the league right now. We could use a break bickering about KD and such for a while. Some discussion points for you all...

1) Who do you think are the award winners and nominees so far based on the 50ish games we've seen?
2) What do you think happens at the Trade Deadline?
3) What teams are looking like Cup contenders and what teams are pretenders?
4) What are your thoughts on how the league has changed these last few years?
5) What do you like and dislike about the current state of the game?

Is Quinn Hughes hurt?

Yeah, he made the decision to back out of the tournament due to injury although I don't think they specified what he has going on. Not that I saw, at least. Think it happened just yesterday.

Damn. I was just looking to try to bet on him for MVP. With him out, I’m not sure the US should be the favorite.

Canada is weak in net but Kreider making team USA says everything wrong with management that needs to be said.
Kreider will be 13th forward most likely. Roster was basically picked too early in the season, so he was largely picked off last year. At end of the day, not a huge deal, I think the USA roster picks are overall correct minus a nitpick here or there.

Would’ve liked to have seen Kane of course but I get why they wouldn’t invite him. He could also probably use the rest

Some damn good hockey, defintely not like the All Star games.
I felt from the beginning the people saying it would be All Star levels of intensity were out to lunch. This is a precursor to the Olympics and guys get to represent their countries after not seriously having been able to since 2014, maybe 2016.

This is going to be fun hockey to watch. At WORST it will be better than the normal all star games.

Ya, it's silly how it's so short, and not all the legit Countries are in it, but still fun to watch.

Actualky was a great hockey game..Did notvlack intensity .Sweden made nice comebacks...Exciting 3x3 OT..

Sad you goottaxreturn to a basement level hockey team of washed up vets..over-rayed vets and shrimps pkaying in a men's league ..ie. thec2024/25 Blackhawks.

Skating level on the Blackhawks=meh..Bedard not in same league speed wise as McDavodvor McKinnon.. but even aside from those two is slower than half the forwards in that game lastt noght..

Huge gap before Hawks even resemble talent like we saw last nkght.

Ha Ha...Of course Jokiharju scores..with nice double help by Olli Maatta..(Matta started the play exiting his zone...pass to Granlund who passed to Jokiharju joining thecrish...Maatta akso follows up the rush and drives the middle to the net without the puck...Jokiharju releases the shot and Helkebyuck distracted by Maattaxdrivibg the net for any rebound, fails to stop the shot by HJ.
