Well, children, felons, illegals aren’t allowed to vote. Hence not everyone on top of choosing not to.Those people don't matter.

It's fair to point out that Subban is Canadian, and given how Trump is currently interacting with Canada, siding with him is unpatriotic and plain idiotic. He was a drama queen before we even drafted him.
No surprise.
(Aliu blasted Subban for supporting Trump.) This might be news to Aliu but...more than half the country did in the election. Sorry to Aliu for Subban expressing his opinion I guess...
Being a Canadian Trump supporter is just the wildest thing to me. You have to be a really special kind of idiot. It's fair to point out that Subban is Canadian, and given how Trump is currently interacting with Canada, siding with him is unpatriotic and plain idiotic.
Also fair to point out that Subban is a self-aggrandizing prick who was pretty much completely unliked wherever he went as a player. So any time someone takes the piss out of him, I'm all for it.

He responded to Subban's shitty opinion with his own opinion. That's how speech works. People are allowed to voice their opinions. And then people are allowed to voice their opinions about those opinions. I never understand this perspective. If you voice an opinion publicly, prepare to have it criticized.Good points.
My main point was that Aliu jumped on Subban because Subban voiced his opinion. That's something I'm not a fan of.
So, a guy uses his public profile to voice an opinion, and given his nationality, a very topical opinion, and no one should counter it?Good points.

C'mon man, that makes no sense.
I have read Alius' post. I didn't see it nearly as much of a personal attack as an attack on Subbans' behavior and beliefs regarding the post from Trump that Subban supported. It is what Aliu said. Have you read the tweet? It's a few hundred words long.
Person A: I really like that person.
Person B: You're a sell out and a disgusting human being for having that opinion.
It was Aliu's reaction to the tweet that I have an issue with. You can respectfully disagree. Aliu didn't. He got very personal. It's almost as if Subban tweeted about him and called him out. But he didn't. He was talking about someone else and Aliu had a meltdown over someone else's opinion.
Example.
Person A. Toews is a top 5 C of his generation.
Person B. I've followed you for a long time. I've respected you too. But you are dead wrong in what you are saying and you are not helping the game in any way. How could you side with such a bad player? I can name 10 centers who are better than Toews in the 2010s. You are actually disgusting for thinking this. You are on the wrong side of history and your reputation and your hockey opinion is now pathetic. You are the perfect example of why hockey is dead last in this country. You are a disgrace.
Aliu...relax.

I totally get the digust Aliu, as a black Canadian, felt. And I don't for a second blame him for treating Subban the way he did.
You say "Akim, relax". I don't think, unless you're both black and Canadian, you have the right to say how Subban's behavior should affect Aliu, or how he should react.
I like you and value your opinion too, Wally. This conversation hasn't changed that. We've both said what we felt on this topic. There's really no sense in getting into a protracted convo about, given we're unlikely to change each other's minds. This is not a race thing. I didn't bring up race.
This is about how to react to someone else's opinion that you disagree with.
I'll practice what I preach.
I like you, Giovi. I value your opinion. But on this topic we disagree. Would you say it is time that we agree to disagree and move along as Blackhawk fan, internet pals? With your consent, I say we do.
Are you sure felons can’t vote? I’ve heard that but tried looking it up and I can’t seem to get a real answer. Seems to vary a lot.Well, children, felons, illegals aren’t allowed to vote. Hence not everyone on top of choosing not to.
Might be felons in prison. Something like that. I do my best to stay out of political stuff. Where I grew up you were not allowed to ask who voted for who lest you like to taste the back of their hand lol! And that way everyone got along. Are you sure felons can’t vote? I’ve heard that but tried looking it up and I can’t seem to get a real answer. Seems to vary a lot.

It's almost like a lot of Canadians are taking what Trump says very personally, and when fellow citizens agree with the guy attacking their country unprovoked, they get pissed off. Weird. I'm not even Canadian and I can 100% relate to Aliu. And I've never been a fan of his.It is what Aliu said. Have you read the tweet? It's a few hundred words long.

PK is an assclown and he's always been an assclown. He can freely support Trump as a Canadian, because he doesn't live in Canada, and hasn't for some time. The guy had a multimillion dollar mansion in Beverly Hills, FFS. Trump's policies will likely have no impact whatsoever on PK, who makes his living by being an onnoxious talking head in the United States, working for a US company.
Why do you care what Aliu has to say?
The bolded is how we got here.Trump is just a troll. No one should take him seriously when he says Canada will be absorbed by the States. It's funny watching all our politicians loss their minds over it though. Trump is doing this to embarrass Trudeau. Trudeau was disrespecting Trump leading up to the US election. This is Trump's pay back.
About Aliu... As I said before there are ways to disagree with someone's opinion and there are ways to not disagree with someone's opinion. IMO Aliu went about it the wrong way.
