If anyone wants to know why the United Center seems to have shittier ice than anywhere else? We are in Ball Arena right now, and the ambient temperature is probably 15-20 degrees lower than the UC. You aren't taking your hat or coat off here. The cold air is cranking. This is how it used to be in the past at the UC. Now you're sweating, even in a hoodie. So of course the ice is going to suck with all that warm air and humidity.

The Blackhawks have fallen so f***ing far since the dynasty era, and it's little things like this, that make all the difference.

I am so deeply tired of people that want the Blackhawks to be good in what amounts to year two of the actual 'rebuild' part of the rebuild.

This isn't in response to anybody here so much as reddit, twitter, theathletic comments, etc

I just... do these people have no concept of recent history?

Can you imagine Tampa Bay Lightning fans drafting Stamkos and then complaining mid-way through his second year in the league over not winning enough games? They drafted 6th overall that year!

The had a bit of a fluke run to the ECF the year after that, then were trash again until 2014.

We are in year 2 of actually rebuilding this thing, the idea that we should be in anyway good is lunacy.
Name ONE player on this team that compares favorably to Martin St. Louis, Vincent Lecavilier, or Mark Recchi. I couldn't care less about actual wins and losses, but it will be YEAR THREE of his career before Bedard has suitable linemates.

I'm not even sure it's a lock that come year 3 he has suitable linemates.

Say Rantanen and Marner extend where they are or sign elsewhere... KD will be left bargain bin shopping for more middle 6 guys to potentially play top line minutes like TT and Bert. That and/or guys who are 30+ and only declining at this point, like a John Taveras.

It would be nice to see Bedard have someone to play with who is either in or about to enter their prime and a legit top 6 guy.

Detroit has been looking real good these last 4 games since the coaching change.

Next season I hope we get a real coach and have a lot more prospects playing. Maybe these retread NHL coaching hires really are the better move.

Jaegerjuice will appear if you say that last part two more times.

How does the deferred money work as far as his cap number?

I believe his cap hit will be 4.5M instead of 6M because of the deferred bit. That’s what I’ve read a few people say, at least.

What doesn’t make sense to me is how you can defer money and lower the cap hit.

To me if it’s a 3 year contract for 18M, no matter how it’s paid out and over what time frame…. The cap hit should be 6M.

But I guess he’s going to move out of CA in the deferred years and pay way less in taxes for the deferred payments.

I’m really interested to see how deferred payments are going to be impacted by agent fees and escrow
