NHL and Rogers in agreement on new Canadian TV deal, 12 years worth $11 billion CAD

So what could be the other package? Prime on Mondays? Are they 2 or 3 French TV stations? RDS TVA and CityTV?
What could be the worth? 100-200 CAD each?

Who in Canada exactly is willing to cut the $1.5 billion check for a new franchise?

Oh, and you don't need blackouts if there are regular stadium sellouts
Confidently incorrect. Blackouts work the exact opposite way you're implying. All national games (the ones Sportsnet just renewed) are broadcast everywhere in Canada, no blackouts. Regional broadcasts are only broadcast IN that teams market, so the blackout only applies to people that live nowhere close to that teams arena.

So I live in Sens/Habs area, neither are playing that night but Flames are blacked out, why can I not watch them?

That’s exactly what I’m talking about. That game is a regional Flames game, you aren’t in the Flames region. Everyone in the Flames region (Alberta and Sask) can watch that game. The original poster implied that there are blackouts in Canada in each teams market to try to force people to buy tickets, which is completely opposite of what actually happens.

Thats not strange for that kind of company, they have paid dividens almost yearly for 20 years, they made fortunes when
mobile was new, its the same here. Its actually a good buy now, almost 10 procent a year in return.

I was thinking of the hefty pricetag, and that it includes separate for French, I actually believe a Quebec team could
be coming.

If they can continue paying that level of dividend, especially when the cost of the NHL rights goes up substantially.

Those annoyingly intrusive digital board adverts must be raking in the billions. Changing during play and being animated is loathsome and Bill Hicks was so right about everyone involved in that.

I haven't attended an NHL game since 2008-09 season (in New York City). I have no idea what the prices, etc., are.

Let's say I'm me -- a Dad, with a wife, and a 6-year-old kid -- and I want to take me and the fam out for the hockey game. We want average seats (upper level, but not total nosebleeds) for three, three sodas, and a few orders of French fries or whatever.

What's this costing me today...
...in New York City?
...in Calgary or Ottawa?

Sounds like you are trying to watch on a regional night not on a national night. If it was a national night it would not be blacked out.

You would need Sportsnet premium or centre ice, for out of market games on a regional night.

What about Toronto and Florida and LA
