I know they dont give a shit/ dont even bother paying attention, but PLEASE for the love of god fix Be A Pro, this mode is so hilariously broken it isn't funny, last year to start off my age was auto generated to 23 year old playing in the memorial cup, yeah that's realistic real bang up work EA, How do egregiously manage to f*** up THAT bad? I should have screen shot but I swear to god that happened.

Depends how badly one wants to play it.
NHL 24 is just a bad game imo, doubt the next version will improve it that much.

24' is my last one forever. I used to be a top 300 player in versus. Now after nerfing the pokecheck, I'm good for at least 5 tripping penalties/game. It's absurd. I get they don't want people to spam the stick but the slightest movement in the other player's direction and my player's in the box.
I refuse to change how I play. Pokechecking is broken.
I'll never buy another NHL game again. Kudos to those who still play it. Played a handful then haven't played since November. It just causes me to rage, losing 4-3 and ALL the opponent's goals were PP goals. Shit like that. So obnoxiously annoying.

The game has some serious fundamental flaws that kill it in EASHL or online play
1) Abilities are too OP. My brother uses the toe drag shot with shock and awe and can score from near the blue line with no screen in front of the goalie. Heatseeker is stupid OP. Truculence can be used to obliterate a guy 5 inches and 40 pounds heavier without much speed. Close quarters is a joke with how imbalanced it is.
2) Shell defence and counter attack on computer defensemen. If you play against another team full of 5'7 snipers, they just shell defence, and then counter after a shot block by blowing by your computer d partner and using close quarters to score. You can play very solid defence on your half, only to lose 3-2 because of 3 breakaway goals around your computer partner
3) Computer teammates are still too slow to react and dont pass well at all. I wish you could just rely on your computer teammate one time to do something well in open ice
4) Goalies flail around now and get suck in that flopped position which is a joke. A goalie would quickly get up if needed
5) Net front battles take a defenseman out of the play entirely. I should be able to shove a player out of the crease a bit without getting a penalty or completely tying them up...
So many gameplay specific issues. That's not even getting into franchise or be-a-pro. Just makes the game feel cheap

NHL 2008-NHL 2021 the gameplay in online versus mode was a thing of beauty. Always defended the gameplay. It was so so fun.
Didn't play 22 or 23. I got '24 a few months ago and gameplay feels SO BAD
And I see people defending it and I'm honestly so confused.

Yeah its trash , game peaked in 21 , not sure what they are going for now. Online vs hut and EASHL are all garbage this year , let's not talk about the offline modes either , crazy

A shame how absolutely brutal this has become. Like, may never buy again brutal. I already didn't really enjoy the game since world of chel was brought in and now it seems like it's gotten significantly worse for a lot of people.
I feel like a different developer/company making a good hockey game would make a surprising amount of money.

That company would need at least the same amount of resources and budget as EA gets. Otherwise it wouldnt survive.
EA can make a good game tho. They've done it plenty of times with the older games, even with a smaller budget and team. Not just EA but other companies too like Activision with 2009 MW2 or COD Warzone 1. Those game were crack cocaine. Same with halo 1-3 back in the day - absolute masterpieces.
Heart and soul will make you lots of money, just not AS much money as taking advantage of customers and treating them like addicts at a casino swiping their credit cards for in game balogna lol

It's incredible how bad/stupid your AI teammates are in franchise compared to last gen. I almost always had a fun time playing 12, but pretty much all of 09-14 were varying degrees of good. It seems like they're almost all statues now. The amount of times I'll have the puck behind the net or skating out to the side of it, or along the half wall, looking for a centering option with no one there, is insane. I also have no idea when they decided that guys on rushes should skate past the net instead of stopping near the far post to potentially finish a passing sequence

The thing that makes me mad is how franchise mode gets consistently ignored. Theres no animations, models or anything complex to it. Its just a bunch of menus and simulation/logic stuff. If you had 1 dedicated person working on franchise mode for a year the difference would be night and day. I'm a novice at programming and im confident I could bang out trade clauses, actual contract negotiations etc. This stuff is so basic but they refuse to do it

I've had limited playtime but I don't actually think this game is that bad. i love the ability to immediately download updated rosters that reflect free agency and I love rebuilding conferences to reduce the NHL from 31 to 20 teams in franchise.

The only way I'm buying NHL 25 is if they've rewritten the core game engine.
But EA Canada never does anything to fix this game, so I seriously doubt that happens. I wonder when the Ultimate Team cash dries up enough for EA to farm it out to a different studio to modernize the code base?

I haven't rage quit this year, so its good. I like some aspects, dislike others. I swear to god my goalie is getting worse as the year goes by. I play hut - my favorite part is the market; getting a 99 team without spending a penny.
there was an iteration i hated, and one that i despised with my entire being. I remember a game where i lost something like 4-3 in regular time against a team of silver players. What caused me 70$ for a new controller and the need to polish up my plastering skills is the fact that my goalie didnt make a single save and all the goals were garbage things like a soft backhand shot from teh blue line that goes in for no reason. Im still mad about it lol. It's happened a few times since (i think i posted a picture in this post somewhere). I had good moments with this game, in comparison. I hate "raging" but man, that game turned me off for months. I started playing again because the boys showed up with beers and nothing to do the next day.
I've reached a point where there is no point in playing though, because my team is either maxed out or made up of players that will upgrade to 99 at some point. They left the team of the season sets open , so its just a matter of time for players like pasta to go to 99.

I dont really play human opponents, but if anything my pokecheck is better than ever. I dont really move my stick around with the right stick, its more of timing my poking when my skating points me in the right direction.
My personal annoyance in this game this year is how many penalties i get where i try to take off a shot but lose the puck somehow and get a penalty because my shot is somehow turned into a hit that gets me an interference call.
I also have a suspicion that some games have "scripts".. like you play one game that their goalie is on fire, another that its too easy, another that you get a million penalties in the same game. It's very uneven; even in teh case of the goalie in god mode, the third period seems to be like "you deserve to win, ill give it to you" and it becomes like 10 goals in 10 shots. nonesensical. Also, how can my 99 goalie not save more than 3 shots in a row.
Anyone find it ridiculously difficult just taking a simple slapshot in 24? (I only play world of chel mode, not sure if other modes are different but I'm assuming it's the same)

Some how I tried taking a slapshot, it released backwards and I ended up scoring on myself from the point in OT in game 7 of the cup final in the attacking zone, great programing there EA, after that I uninstalled and quit playing the game, havent played it since the holidays, I can take losing organically but when the game decides to deliberately screw me over I got a bone to pick with that.
