Yeah, I understand they are just under .500, but this ranking has them last. Think of this ranking as a "hot" ranking. How hot is the team. So scores changes wildly with streaks. The Oilers are 2-8 in their last ten (one of those wins was OT/SO), that would see them drop by a lot, specially if some those loses are against weaker teams

I added Elo Low, Elo Average and Elo High. Tells you the lowest they've been, their average elo, and the highest they've been

Dang, the Central has taken a beating lately - I got so used to seeing the division average as highest for so long (including all of last season), it's a shock to see it at the bottom.

The Caps aren't an impressive "advanced stats" team, because they tend to ride a high shooting percentage and shoot from further out. But that's one of those times where a smart "advanced stats" guy would recognize where the data isn't matching the results and acknowledge that.

Good stuff, thanks. But I still think shoot-out wins or losses should be even less than OT-wins or losses. If a bad team pulls a good team to shoot-out, they should earn points- even if they lose in the shoot-out. As in a "tie". I don't know how to do it, but if you want to give something to the winner of the shoot-out, it should be small, and a much better team only winning in a shoot-out should basically lose points to a much lower ranked team. Perhaps splitting that half weight in two, half of it calculated as a tie from ELO, and the other half as a win- that might do it (I really don't know how ELO works here. I admit.)

Shoot-outs are just crap-fest.
