Expected Ratings for Goalies

93: Jonathan Quick
92: Henrik Lundqvist
91: Tim Thomas, Roberto Luongo, Pekka Rinne, Ryan Miller, Martin Brodeur
90: Carey Price, Jaro Halak, Marc-André Fleury, Mikka Kiprussof, Cam Ward
89: Brian Elliot, Jimmy Howard, Corey Schneider, Antti Niemi, Mike Smith
88: Tuuka Rask, Kari Lehtonen, Niklas Backstrom, Jonas Hiller, Ondrej Pavelec

84: Evgeni Nabokov, Mathieu Garon, Tomas Vokoun, Scott Clemmensen, Nikolai Khabibulin, Brent Johnson, Braden Holtby
83: Sergei Bobrovsky, Steve Mason, Josh Harding, Ben Scrivens
82: Curtis Sanford, Anders Lindback, Peter Budaj

I think these ratings are pretty fair, maybe I overrate Cam Ward & Ryan Miller and underrate Tomas Vokoun & Peter Budaj, but I think these ratings will be similar to what EA will use. Maybe -1 overall to all of them, but the range will be pretty similar. I know I forgot some goalies but most of them that have been forgotten are because I didn't watch them that much so I would be underating them.

There should be a -1 to all of them like you said, too many 90'ish goalies, but other than that I think these are fairly good and accurate with few exceptions:

Should be lower/worse (bolded):

Martin Brodeur
Although had very good playoffs, he's just not a top 10 goalie in the NHL anymore. Just look at his regular season stats. He's not even in the top 30! My rating: 87 (Just because the playoff performance)

Jonathan Bernier
This guy has played whopping 48 games through his four seasons in the NHL. Last year he played 16 games with an amazing .909 SV% and now he's suddenly 87 OVR. Seriously dafug man!? My rating: 83

Jonas Gustavsson
Pretty much the same as with Bernier, but in 107 games "The Monster" has posted a SV% of .900 and GAA of 2.98. Just playing for the Maple Leafs isn't an excuse. My rating: 82

Ondrej Pavelec
Just because he got a nice contract he's now 88? He had a.906 SV% last year. Actually, rather saying why he should be lower I'd like you to explain what makes him so high on your list. My rating 85

Should be better/higher (underlined):

Jose Theodore
You may say that I'm biased, but the stats should still speak for themselves. He was 18th in the NHL in both SV% and GAA while playing 53 games. He had better stats than Price, Miller, Ward, Niemi, Fleury etc. I don't think he's better than all of those but IMO it's just that plain wrong that he's (so much) behind/on the same level as goalies like: Bernier, Brodeur, Hiller, Pavelec etc.
I don't think his OVR rating should be that much higher, but just others are way too high compared. My rating: 87-86

Tomas Vokoun
This guy had his worst season in 5 years and posted a record of 25-17-2, with a .917 SV% and 2.51 GAA. So why on earth is he now a 84? He should be challenging M-A Fleury for the starter role and not just be a decent back-up. My rating: 87-86

No offense, but while reading your list multiple times and writing my own thoughts I realized this list isn't that good after all IMO. Not totally bad, but there are pretty much to change still. Therefore I stopped making these arguments any further since there are just too many thing I disagree about.

The only ones I disagree with.
Brodeur was an 83 in NHL 12 and I don't expect EA to boost him that much and disagree with themselves. Nabokov was an 89 last year and had a decent season so that drop seems extreme. And then I just don't think EA is dumb enough to make Gustavsson that good. But who knows?

Oh yeah, didn't see Bernier there. Very questionable

You underrated A LOT of players here. I bolded the ones that will definitely be rated higher and underlined the ones that will be lower. This is EA here.

THAT'S harsher and more realistic

Only 15 points of separation between Kovalchuk and Cam Janssen?

In my opinion, the guys in the upper tier should be in the low 90s - the Stamkos/Kovalchuk type players. Crosby/Malkin and a very choice few above 95. And the guys who can't skate, can't handle the puck, or do anything else but hit/fight (Janssen) should be in the 60s. Skilled AHL and even high end CHL players should be rated higher than them. I love Janssen too, and I think he has a good role, but going by skills he is as unskilled as it gets.

Also, there's no way Larsson is already as good as Andy Greene who has been one of our top pairing defensemen for the last 2-3 years. Certainly not already better than Fayne.
