Stretching the travel budget for some fans.

So 16 teams is half the league, right?
I don’t think the expectation is for the fans in North America to travel to Europe. For those who do want to make a trip out of it, good on them but I think the NFL is hoping 60k are from Europe.

It wasn’t there when Rams moved back to LA in 2016.
It's still there, it's just hard to see during games

You're right. I just looked it up. It was removed in 1993. So the last time the NFL played in a stadium with a track would be when the Raiders played there.

Wow, it looked quite a bit different in the old days. I assume they just sunk the field and added some more rows of seating?

Yep.

However, the combination of the stadium's large, relatively shallow design, along with the presence of the track between the playing field and the stands, meant that some of the original end zone seats were as far from the field by the equivalent length of another football field. To address these and other problems, the Coliseum underwent a $15 million renovation before the 1993 football season, which included the following:

The field was lowered by 11 feet (3.4 m) and 14 new rows of seats replaced the running track, bringing the first row of seats closer to the playing field (a maximum distance of 54 feet (16.5 m) at the eastern 30-yard-line).

So with all this world travel do NFL teams need another bye week. Given all that has been added to the players I think having only 1 bye week deserves a second look.

Also picking up on the Saudi Arabia Stadium thread, what are the odds the NFL plays a game there?

I’m sure it’ll happen before too long.

The end game is 18 games, 2 byes, Labor Day weekend kickoff, and President's Day Weekend Super Bowl.

And hopefully means TNF off of byes, so it's played on 10 days rest. Although that would require many early and late season byes and probably piss everyone who plays fantasy off.

Very good. They aren't going to turn down The Kingdoms money and they will be giving them a blank check in all likelihood.

And they are already planning for international games in 2026.

Australia is a new frontier for logistics. Would the teams need to play on the first weekend of the season? Would they need to be sandwiched between their bye weeks and mini-bye weeks (post Thursday Night Football). It feels like something that could sink the Rams season before it begins.

Just another reason the players will need another bye week.

I won't be surprised if they play it Labor Day weekend and give those 2 teams Week 1 off. It'll be there way of infringing on CFB Week 1.

The Sports Broadcasting Act restrictions don't go into affect until the 2nd weekend of September, and a Sunday afternoon game in Melbourne will be primetime on Saturday night stateside.
