Someones drunk in New England

Trade down scene. Ashton Jeanty the game changer. Wil Campbell the foundation. Tetairoa McMillan runs routes. Leaning toward Jeanty, came within twenty-six yards of breaking Barry Sanders' college rushing record.

Someones drunk in New England

You have to remember that 90% of mock drafts, especially this time of year, are about starting a conversation. In this case, Dussault's building a case for why Jeanty could be valuable to the team, but the other part is that it looks at a scenario where they don't take OT, WR, and DL at #4 and where they could go with their remaining picks to fill those areas.

Like last year, I remember the focus being on Patrick Paul and Kingsley Suamataia as their best options at tackle after Round 1, and Keon Coleman, Xavier Legette, and Ladd McConkey as their best options at wide receiver in Round 2. They had to compare those options at their 2nd round pick versus who'd be available at their 3rd?

Have to have a similar thought process this year. If they don't draft a tackle at #4, who will be available in the 2nd round? Josh Conerly and Aireontae Ersery might be the best ones available and do they believe they can be NFL left tackles? If no, does that convince them to take one at #4? Teams should always draft for BPA, and not need, but if they decide they want to get a WR and Tackle out of their first two picks, do they prefer a combination of Tet and Conerly or Campbell and Jayden Higgins? They need to decide those things, and, as fans, it's good to look at what the options might be.

I'll add, our worst case scenario isn't taking Jeanty at #4, or Tyler Warren, or any other consensus top 10 big board player that doesn't feel like good positional value. It's pulling a 2019 Raiders, when they took Clelin Ferrell 4th overall, and taking a player who most expect to go in the 20s.
