NFL KC requests Christmas game

I would have thought the players would have wanted the day off. Its not like teams need national exposure these days.
$$$$ Netflix is paying alot of money for exclusive rights to those games generating more money for the league. While everyone is at home, it as easy thing to put on and watch with nothing else on.

The league should tell them no. They won't be good forever, keep this inventory open.

That said, I wont be surprised if Christmas remains AFC heavy, as last year was. NFC (the older, more big-market conference) dominates Thanksgiving, and with the rule in place that games must be offered on free TV to the market's of playing teams, it makes sense for the league to use teams like KC, PIT, & LV with big national appeal but in smaller local markets.

Meanwhile the Thanksgiving games should fairly rotate the participants outside Detroit and Dallas.

Under this, the Lions and Cowboys each year would host the home opponents on their schedules with the longest-active Thanksgiving droughts, which in 2025 would be the Browns and Chiefs, respectively.

The night game would have its first team be the team not playing in Detroit or Dallas with the longest-active Thanksgiving drought. They would play the opponent on their schedule with the longest-active drought, this would make the 2025 night game Rams at Jaguars.
