Next year's Captain?

I'm fine with Gionta remaining Captain for 1 or 2 more years, at a discount and short-term, if that means it will give more time to Subban to grow into the captain he can be.

Should give it to Pleks, he'll keep it for a few years and when he'll leave, all of Subban, Galchenyuk and Tinordi will be ready for the C. We can then make our choice. And by "ready", I mean ready in terms of management perspective, because "ready in terms of fan perspective" is obviously a way different world here in Montreal.

-a leader. OUT: Eller, Desharnais, Emelin, Bourque, White (subjective I know)

-a player with skills. OUT: Gorges, Prust, Moen, Weaver, Weise, Murray, Parros, Bouillon
-in Montreal for a while. OUT: Gionta, Briere, Markov.
-consistent. OUT: Pacioretty

It's a two horse race between Plekanec and Subban.

Wish the team with go with the "young core" way, though. Subban deserves an A at least, and if it weren't for the Vancouver Canucks failed experiment with Luongo, I'd say Price is the one that deserves the C the most.

Goalies aren't allowed to be captains in the NHL.

Works his ass off, go-to guy defensively, good offensively, been with the team for a while, best centermen....
You don't have to be a huge talker to be a "leader", he leads by example.

pacioretty is actually pretty consistent

more consistent than subban production-wise

He's been consistent for a while, but started the year on a pretty bad stretch and he did have long stretches with no production last season as well. He needs to be more consistent with is consistency.
