Any idea of some kids who are really excelling and playing up a year or two? Seems every few years the CHL gets one.

Wondering if anybody is around that level for the OHL in the next few years. (Yes I know lots of things change but who is looking like it now)

Some 2011s I have heard playing up U16AAA this year, but not sure that any will dominate enough to be considered for exceptional status?
Callum Brooks - U16AAA Huron Perth Lakers
Preston Hebert - U16AAA Toronto Marlboros
Beckham Hunter - U16AAA Biosteel Hockey Academy
Kade O'Rourke - U16AAA Toronto JRC
Austin Pettey - U16AAA Quinte Red Devils
Hunter Willette - U16AAA Grey Bruce Highlanders

Some 2012s I have heard playing up U15AAA this year
Hugo Lee - U15AAA Toronto JRC
Addison Dionne - U15AAA North Shore Whitecaps

Has anyone heard anyone else?

This is probably going to be an unpopular opinion but I firmly believe the CHL needs to be more stringent with "exceptional status". I think we have some samples now where the players long term maybe didn't end up as exceptional as we expected and I can't help but wonder if the rush to the OHL hindered their development. It can't hurt to be the man in U16AAA one more year...

Even Veleno had a great CHL career. What kind of pro he becomes shouldn’t be the measuring stick for exceptional status in the future. Really only Day was a mistake.
Day was a big mistake for sure- if you’re not even going #1 in your own draft how the hell do you become exceptional

I think that really is the measuring stick, no? If you are exceptional, you are a #1 overall pick. I think that is the standard. I think it is a very fair standard. I think you hit that nail right on the head.
Even if it’s debatable about a player being 1st OA they shouldn’t get it. No more Sean day situations and more Connor McDavid or John Tavares situations where there is 0 doubt.

even if there presumably isn’t any potential exceptional status players in the next few years that is okay but I don’t know these young guys like others do so always good to hear about them.

Maybe they should change the exceptional status process. Only the first pick overall can select an underage player. No pre approval from the league is necessary, all underage players are fair game. If they don't go first overall, they don't get picked until next year.

merit to that other then perhaps a team that no one wants to go to takes an underage who isnt true elite because he is the only one that is willing to go. but i do think your premise is pretty legit
