Next Captain: Pasta or Mac?

Pasta should be it if Marchand doesn't return. I think he'd grow a bit with the responsibility too. Something about Pasta screams to me good guy that fits in. I think he was used to the Bruins being the old guard team and his job is to just score. If he looks around over the summer and realizes it's his team and has the C, I think we see a bit of a different guy on the ice. I just hope he doesn't lose his goofball/easy going personality with the responsibility.

Pasta by a country mile and not just because he's Boston's top player. His fight with Tkachuk in last year's playoffs showed me that this guy really wants to win, it showed courage, from that day on I was sold.

You'd like to think both of them spent enough time around Chara, Bergeron, Marchand, Krejci, even guys like Backes and Foligno, to have learned a few things about the captaincy.

But they have to be themselves. There's not going to be another Zee or Bergy.

Give Pasta everything he wants! ... if he wants to be captain, do it.

And pray that Pasta wouldn't like to leave Boston. Or this team will be the worst in NHL without him. Remove Pasta and check team stats.

Neither. Think both Pasta and McAvoy could do without the extra responsibility and pressure. Both great people, good examples, happy to see them wearing 'As' and being part of the leadership group, but no more. Would prefer the Bruins bring in a Nick Foligno-type to be a steady, experienced hand that can help to right the ship without simultaneously having to be the primary driver of the team's offense or defense.

They've done it before. I appreciate they're not getting Chara 2.0 and I don't know exactly who the person should be, but that's what I'd like to see happen. Even if David or Charlie do get the captaincy or if Marchand returns, they need to bring in more leadership support regardless. That has to be a priority in the offseason, because for whatever reason, it was a deficient area this year.

I don't want Pasta to overthink the way he plays... Also Brady Tkachuk would start trending any time he has a 2 game scoring drought.

Might go with Pasta, McAvoy, Hampus for 3As

Our Captain next year will be Brad Marchand.
Just wait and see.

Also, Pasta speaks up on the bench to players and coaches as well as the stripes. He sets up plays.

it has to be Pastrnak. Hell, I’d say Pastrnak even if Marchand returns.

Disclaimer: I’ve never stepped foot in the Bruins locker room, never been on the ice with them, never sat on the bench with them for a practice/game. I am highly unqualified to make a decision on next captain.

I appreciate they were productive at one point but this year they were pathetic addition by subtraction. Coyle was somehow worse than Brandon and he's the worst Bruin in recent memory that wasn't a minimum contract.

Zaddy fits better without a no offense RD soft 2nd pair on the other side the two could never play together and it messed things up.
I disagree with the addition by subtraction comment. This team is clearly way worse without Carlo and coyle. It’s not even close.

Addition by subtraction would have the bruins winning more games after the trades. This team might not win a game down the stretch.

I’d give the C to the most vocal leader who works the hardest off ice. I can’t tell who is leader material by watching games from my couch.

Hopefully there will be more choices to wear the "A" next season. Right now, the Bs are thin on leadership other than Pasta.

I find it sad that they cannot find one other player to sew an "A" on (other than Pasta). Mac obviously would be wearing an "A" if he were playing but after that :dunno:

I think there's a more than decent chance Marchand comes back, especially if he wins a cup with Florida.

But I have to give it to Pasta at this point, he's the guy going all the way back to last season taking dirty shots down on the ice from that weasel that's really tried to put the team on his back.

I like Mac for it too but he's quieter and doesn't always step up for the big game
