The rest of the season seems like it will be an insane grind especially with 3 of the last 6 games against CBJ and MTL but these next 5 seem critical in us getting separation with 4 being against divisional rivals and 3 against teams we fighting a spot with.

Famous last words maybe but I feel like this team has genuinely put it all together at this point so I’ll say 4-1-0, but that is also dependent on Ullmark finding his form.

Yeah, some of the teams we're playing to close out the season are in a similar position with Ottawa, but I wouldn't call it an insane grind. I know it's not a guarantee of anything and it's been said many times, but the remaining quarter of the season schedule is hugely favourable to Ottawa.

What happens over the next 5 games is important for sure, but all this "must win" and "every game is like game 7" hyperbole is just that - hyperbole. If they lost yesterday it wouldn't have been the end of anything, in spite of how certain fans would've been somersaulting off the top of the peace tower.

I do want them to thoroughly humiliate Detroit on Monday though.

It's going to be a dogfight till the end, but if we can just manage to be in a playoff spot with three games to go I will finally feel good. The last three games of the season are at home against Philly, Chicago and Carolina. Last game for Carolina, so I imagine they will take things easy in preparation for the playoffs.

For me it all comes down to goaltending; good Ullmark, we should win all of them. Middling Ullmark, we might lose two, maybe three, which would be costly in the race.

I think it will come down to three teams for the two wildcard spots; Columbus, NYR and us.

NJD could come into the mix as well - 4 points up on CBJ with 2 extra GP. Hughes is out for the season and they’ve been losing more than winning recently.

I’ll say we go 4-1 in the next 5 games. Ullmark is taking some time to find his form but should only get better.

Agreed with respect to Ullmark being the x-factor. He's let in at least 3 goals in each of the last 7 games. He might turn it around but he hasn't won us a game since the fall. That said maybe we will get lucky.

That would make 7 points out of a max of 10. Seems about right to me. But I really hope we do better than that and get all 10. Make a team statement! drive right into the playoffs, not back in.

Leafs are the only better team that it would be "normal" to lose to. Every NHL game is a battle but we need to be 4-1-0, the team is very healthy right now... I mean only Cousins and Hamonic injured is a major addition by subtraction.
