Even if the picks don’t pan out, the value wasn’t what it was made out to be. Buffalo wasn’t expected to be a good team after trading O’Reilly for spare parts and futures. There was a reasonable expectation of the pick being high. Because there’s a charm pricing effect in hockey talk, the draft round equivalent to the left digit in a price, a lot of people freaked out.

Then, even if they got a first straight up, the organization could have easily been happy trading down for comparable value.

Scheme, players in or out, Drink, KK, etc. Why we lost:

Cats top 2 lines killed us but all 4 of their lines were very productive (and top line stayed on the ice via no penalties)

OTH, Canes only had one line plus Stankoven have any productivity. Our D was not only leaky but produced virtually nothing offensively.
