News & Notes XLVI: The Svechnikov Awakens, The Jarvis... Jarvis-es.

Joakim Nordstrom apparently played 3 seasons with us and I have zero memory of him ever suiting up. And it’s not like a Trevor Carrick situation, where he also played in 3 seasons with us, but less than 10 games each season. Nordstrom played 3 full seasons with us (71, 82, and 75 games)

I'm surprised you don't remember "Nordy and Nesty". As I recall, both were very serviceable 4th line types who all too often were played higher than they ideally should been in the lineup.

edit: I'd even change "serviceable" to "solid" (as far as 4th line, of course)

I remember Nestrasil (or however you spelled his name), but nope, Nordstrom is a complete blank.

Though to be fair, that period of time for the Canes was probably better left forgotten anyway.

That one’s on you.

Nordstrom - Staal - x (x famously being Nestrasil for a time) was the original Martinook - Staal - x.

They epitomised the "Jordon Staal linemate" of the dark times.

Staal’s most frequent line combo by year per Dobber:

Skinner - J. Staal - Dwyer
Gerbe - J. Staal - Dwyer
E. Staal - J. Staal - Lindholm
Nordstrom - J. Staal - Nestrasil
Aho - Staal - Teravainen (the original TSA)
Aho - Staal - Teravainen
Foegele - Staal - Williams
Foegele - Staal - Svechnikov
Svechnikov - Staal - Fast
Niederreiter - Staal - Fast
Martinook - Staal - Fast
Martinook - Staal - Fast
Martinook - Staal - Jarvis

More comprehensive practice post (good to see both Jost and Jankowski fully practicing):

I wish Game 5 was tonight instead of tomorrow. Washington looked completely gassed and disinterested most of Game 4, that extra day of rest isn't going to be helping us, that's for sure.

But if Nikishin has to go, that's a very talented fully rested player taking the ice against a team that looks mentally defeated. Could be a good place to get him worked in.

And if he's on the ice with Ovi hip check time. Ovi won't be able to dodge
