It's all the icons of the teams that played yesterday.... Well except for one game

Honestly, I love the new team icons. I've just been randomly going around tagging random posts with the teams, just to confuse people. See, the "Minnesota Wild" icon can be a feasible substitute for a "Wild" reaction. But when someone mentions a player hitting the post and they get a Panthers reaction, what are they supposed to make of that?

Me too, not a fan of any of our hurricane swirls. But I have yet to see any proposed new logo that looks better than the flags, or even one that I'd consider close. Who'd a thunk it would be that difficult coming up with a logo representing a hurricane? :sarcasm:

If I analyze the current Whites they have a lot going against them. But seeing them, they just look good to me, much better than the hurricane swirl. The letter dimensions give a very clean look, almost like a red sash across the chest. I know the Rags letter mark came first, but ours look way better to me.
I think the logo is a bit odd bc some sort of aqua blue and black would make a better color pallette for a team named the Hurricanes bit we didn't go that way because "wolfpack".

You know what I never see....

...is baby blue hurricanes. They made the right color choice.

That you'll get punched in the back of the head after you're done talking.

We need a Buffalo bills logo for hitting the post.

Okay...hear me out....what colors do you see when you look out the window....like not on a screen?

Doppler is a better reason for red than wolfpack.

Grey and white.

Blue isn't one of the options...either naturally or in false colors like I demonstrated. Red is one of the popular false color options, and whites, blacks and greys are also reasonable colors for natural options. Seems the original designer of the logo was pretty spot on for color choices that unify the spectrum of colors, both natural and iconographic imagery, for hurricanes.

I actually think that if we moved away from the eye logo, people would be begging us to bring it back within 10 years, just like what happened with the Coyotes. Its an abstract take on a hurricane. It works.

But if we were going to change it, and again, I don't think we should, we could look to a 'ship in the storm' motif and lean into the Hatteras lighthouse with the secondary logo. Ideally, I would like to bring in Blackbeard as part of the branding, but I do wonder if that would ruffle too many feathers by stepping on ECU toes a bit, especially in Raleigh at that arena.

I know you're not necessarily pushing for it but I don't feel like "ship in the storm" would work at all. It would be emblematic of struggling or just trying to survive while Canes are portraying themselves as the storm.

Grey and white.

Just saying, a more literal interpretation of a Hurricane as a logo would trend towards a design like the Frankfurt Galaxy used, and.... no

The level of detail needed to make the hurricane would make it look like a featureless blob from a distance. At a certain point, it kind of needed to go in the direction we did.

Hey, just change the name. Carolina Aviators or Carolina Pilots! New name new colors.

Don't know if you're being facetious, but my understanding is that a color change isn't an option (unless you want to go counter to the color scheme of the arena). That was locked in by the Centennial Authority when the team first came here. I remember that they had to change the seats when it was first built because they were the wrong shade of red, which didn't match the State color.

But that does remind me of a question I've long had: how come no major U.S. professional team is named the Dragons? Talk about options for a great logo! Just make these into dragons instead of lions.

Elliotte brought it up on the latest 32 Thoughts, and I'd mentioned it earlier in the regular season when we were doing well compared to some of these dudes, but it's fun to think that with all the guys that have moved off the roster in the past year, the Canes will still get furrther than pretty much all of them in a transition year.

Turbo - Chicago, lol
Noesen, Pesce - Jersey, pwned
Skjei, Bunting - Nashville, lol
Guentzel - Tampa, we'll see, but not looking good
Necas, Drury - Colorado, on the brink
Rantanen - If not Colorado, he gone

I also mentioned around the deadline when folks were in bad spirits that there was an incredibly high chance we'd get further than one of Dallas/Colorado and Florida/Tampa that are all such incredible teams. It'd still be nice if we can, you know, make an ECF and do some actual damage there, but shit's still pretty good here.

We're into the 2nd round, likely to face an entirely beatable team in Washington. And then who would it be? The beat up Panthers? The shell of the Lightning? The Maple Laughs? The strongest of the three looks like the Leafs, but it's the playoffs and the Leafs.

And then what team in the West doesn't look like it has massive weaknesses right now?

This may have been a transition year, but the playoff field is so damn open this year that the path to the Cup is wide open for us.

As confident as I am about being able to take on Washington, I think we’re still a considerable underdog against them. I just don’t think we match up great at all. Home ice would probably prevent us getting swept this time around, and the wear and two of two Finals runs to proceed these playoffs factor in, but Florida are the smart money choice until they hit a noticeable permanent decline.

Yeah, I think we got swept by the last team to make the Eastern playoff bracket a few years ago in the ECF. If we are looking at "entirely beatable" teams in the ECF, we have to be included in that list regardless of who else is there.
