News & Notes XLV: Simply Having A Wonderful Canesmastime

  • HFBoards is doing server maintenance Thursday March 13th at 9 AM GMT 5 AM EDT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. We expect to have this issue solved once the maintenance is complete.
  • We are currently aware of "log in/security error" issues that are affecting some users. We apologize and ask for your patience as we try to get these issues fixed.
instead of bumping the 'broadcast on wral' thread again, i'll respond to myself (originally responding to myself) here...

hey, last tuesday me. today me just looked at prices for the game. the cheapest tickets available are section 312 row N. literally the last row in a corner. they are listed for a bit over $100. on a wednesday night.

the cheapest for the rangers that saturday are ~$90. good, ranger fan tax. other games i checked started around 30-40. the ovi multiplier is real.

hey, 10 days ago me. the ovi chase multiplier now has the cheapest tickets for the caps game sitting at just under $200. the 5 seats available in the section we have range in price between $325 - $365.

i tell myself now that in the battle of greed vs wanting to see history, greed still has a chance. selling at those prices would pay back what i paid for 4 games/2 tickets per plus about 100% cash back. but my two oldest sons both expressed that they want to go, so who am i kidding? not only will i not sell, i won't even be in the building myself.

Solution is obvious. Make your kids buy them from you.

The pic where he scored his first goal and aho is next to him celebrating and looking DOWN at him like he's his kid or something is pretty indicative of his height lol
When things were getting chippy and he was getting in there with Stanley from Peg it looked like one of those perspective illusions where Stanley was like 10 ft in front of him, but nope...side by side. He was at like nipple height at best lol

LOL. Because I want to know what’s wrong — even a simple upper or lower body— with one of my fave players?

Restated differently: because sports is really just A Soap Opera based on weighted random number generation, and because people feel like knowing the weights gives them more insight into how The Soap Opera is gonna turn out.

Is Svech sick? Injured? Crazy? Is there some hidden drama that we don't know about? Has Svech actually been kidnapped and replaced with his twin brother Smech? Tune in to the next episode to find out!

Svech is upset with Tlusty for not trading Rantanen for Boeser.

tough but fair. i like it.

of course, at this point in the conversation the footage of my life would be played at double speed and some yakety-sax knock off would play while the images unfold the story of the kids going to my wife, my wife to me, and then $$$ going back around that circle until the boys place my cash back in my hand...

Woof, glad I gave up my tickets this year

Attendance for next year...can they continue the sellout pace?

Going to be interesting with opposing forces at play. I expect a Nikishin bounce + some other off season adds so a probable strong team but.....

they significantly raised the prices for season tickets (along with some silly surcharges for end seats) and have gone exclusively to general parking (and this could be for 2 years as the parking decks need to be completed for a differentiated premium parking product...presuming that ever comes back).

I suspect that might be a turnoff for a part of the fan base that is older or folks that fear a nightmare parking experience similar to anyone who has attended Chapel Hill football or basketball games. I also wonder if tailgating near the stadium will be impacted next year as well?????

FWIW: a bunch of folks have told me they are probably not renewing and right now we are on the fence.

It really depends on how well they spend that $36m in cap space.

They make a big splash and tickets will sell out immediately. They stumble and bring in a bunch of bottom 6 guys and depth defensemen, and they'll be offering discounted package deals by November.
