Pretty much confirms what we already knew:

Dundon is micromanaging every aspect of this franchise and his negotiation tactics are a big negative. 10 of the 19 agents picked him as worst owner in the league
And there you have it. Karmonos was worse, I guess?

How much does an agent liking an owner have on what a player chooses? Legit question?

An agent is always going to try and get more money for their client, so in that sense, it makes sense that a hard-line negotiation isn't popular with them. Even moreso if Dundon takes pride in being such a hard ass (which it seems like he does)

However, if the agents decide they're not interested in dealing with those kind of negotiations, they may encourage their clients to take deals elsewhere.

If, for example, a player was deciding between Tampa Bay and Carolina, well, that article says agents believe Tampa has one of the best owners, while Carolina has one of the worst. They may convince the client that a deal with Tampa Bay is better for the client, even if Carolina offers more money.

And in that hypothetical, if you really don't like working with the Canes front office, you might even go out of your way to string them along a bit in the negotiation process to tie them up for a while waiting in your player you know they want, watching them lose other players while keeping space available for the guy you're stringing them along with only to eventually sign elsewhere making them look for options 3 and 4

not that that has happened to us in the past............

They outright said the environment in the front office is toxic.

If you believe them, when things start to go sideways here and we're not a good team, its going to get real ugly real quick.
They don’t use the word toxic, they just don’t like dealing with him. As agents….how can that be a surprise? He fights them. There’s a part of me that’s totally ok with it but like everyone else it feels over bearing and it’s also an environment where maybe good people are shut down. Tulsky doesn’t at all give the vibe that he’s being restrained. Waddell did, or just didn’t seem to want to deal with it.

My issue is that what we as fans see as value doesn’t seem to match the teams, but I don’t feel like they’ve proven us wrong yet. They still seem to think they can replace people with cap space and analytics. I didn’t think they were right initially and I don’t feel like my initial thoughts have been proven wrong. I think we’ve downgraded in multiple places and it’s slowly leading us away from where it seemed were headed a few years ago. We could really use another round of Trocheck/Skjei moves. That deadline shaped the team and took us up a notch for a few years. Replacements of Tro and Hamilton have fallen flat amongst other smaller moves that haven’t moved the needle enough.

I still think we had an excellent summer in what we did bring in, but if our big summer cap space event only brings a few more guys in the same vein there’s no reason to think we’re moving up the ladder in the league. We need at least two more quality forwards, a couple of above average dmen and a starting goalie.

That’s not a small list, and the one thing we have going for us is the cap space.
