It's a god damned slog most of the time in the postseason too. The high stakes and tension are really what makes it good.
Yep. The quality of hockey after about 10 minutes into OT generally is *terrible*. You're waiting for one great moment, which more often not comes because somebody is tired and makes a dumb mistake. So, of course, everyone plays conservative to avoid being the one who makes the dumb mistake rather than playing to win.

I don’t remember the exact number, but I thought I remember hearing most playoff OTs end in either the first 3 minutes of a period or the last 3 minutes of a period. Between those two, almost nothing gets done.

One pair of Canes on the list with Pesce on their heels. His dad's tweets joyous tweets these days still sting.

That Ghost - Walker pairing is starting to fall off though. Ghost is an absolute beast on the offensive side of the puck, but there have been a few games lately where his turnovers or lost board battle have led directly to a goal against. The good still far outweighs the bad, but in a slump like this, every mistake is amplified.

Not only that, of all the pairings at the top of this list, Ghost/Walker are the most sheltered, and by a fair amount compared to everyone by Schmidt-Balinkas.

Received some more $20 ticket texts today for games this week. Unfortunately, can't take advantage and travel due to a family illness. I saw a discussion re: tix and how lower bowl season ticket holders have not been able to easily resell their tix due to high pricing. Guess that explains some of the empty seats.

Did they ever replace the two marketing VPs that left? They seem to be a little off their game in comparison to other teams and past seasons.

yep, I've been running into major issues with re-sale due to the inflated prices this year and just inflation in the economy in general. Quite frankly they need to come back down to 20-25 for parking period and freeze ticket prices for a while.

Isn’t parking already $27 with ParkWhiz?

I agree re: inflation and current economic challenges for fans/families. Also, it's bad look with all the empty red seats (particularly as seen on TV behind the benches) downstairs. It reminds me of the bad look of Carolina's Blue Zone's empty seats during broadcasts.

The counter is that we (hardcore) fans want a strong roster and for Dundon to spend to the cap. With the cap projected to expand greatly over the next few years, ownership will be challenged to spend to the limit without additional revenues. Thus, the dilemma.

Damn that’s bad and validates the “eye” test. Goalies are voodoo but Pyotr has disappointed so far this year.

Line changes in practice:

Can someone compare the fancy stats for Kotkaniemi and Jost?

I'm wonder how much of a gap there is between these two players.

No idea on the fancy stats but historically I think there’s been little difference between the two. I think when KK is physical he probably has an edge. In a shooting competition where there’s no time limit he’s probably better, and in terms of raw passing skill he’d probably win. Overall skating in all situations is Jost by a mile. Overall NHL offensive zone instincts Id take Jost. Defensively is probably a wash at this point. Jost was a skill forward that has never been able to keep the offense going enough to stay in the top six and at the time wasn’t a bottom six player, but he’s learned how to be an all around bottom six guy who has that base level of skill. He’s also hungry. If it wasn’t for the KK contract, the trade, the hype….if these two went to tryouts over and over head to head with no background applicable I’d bet Jost would win more than he’s lose.

When KK is at his very best, he’s the better player because of his size, strength and he can be poised with the puck at a high level. We have not seen very much of that player at any point. It’s like seeing angry take the game over Staal. It’s great that it’s in there somewhere but it’s accessed so rarely it’s irrelevant.

That matches what I see too. Josts tenacity is what stands out. He basically drapes himself on offensive players and gives them no room. Which is exactly what Rod wants.

Jost also seems the better passer which makes me wonder what he could do in Kotkaniemis spot. I would never expect 2c production I'm just thinking he could be a better system fit and the tiniest upgrade over KK.

it is, which is probably why ticket passes haven't been re-selling for shit this year.

still though even with that considered people are looking at a good $150+ night even with some of the cheap seats and that's even just getting a couple pops and a popcorn at the game. Want to go for a beer and something real to eat? Probably more like 200 after parking and tickets for 2 people.
