Interesting (she is a Ru based hockey blogger):

I don’t know what this is saying, but Rod hasn’t changed his system to accommodate Necas. Really, the biggest change from this year to last appears to be giving Necas more PP time. Aho and Svech are still playing in the same system they’ve been playing in for their entire career, so to blame their poor start on “figuring out what Rod wants from them” is barking up the wrong tree

I thought the implication was Necas signed and said f*** it I'll do what I want.

I honestly think Necas, until last night, had looked much closer to old Necas since the point streak. Even last night wasn't as good as the streak but at least he got a couple of high impact plays in there. I still highly doubt there's some new great Necas as much as an insane hot streak.

If you ignore all the metrics, sure it makes no sense and is "bullshit". KK's numbers are the worst for all centers in Carolina while facing the easiest competition.

At what point are we going stop blaming MTL and stop blaming the Canes about his lackluster performance. Martinook has been way better than KK over the past 2 years and people freak out when Martinook gets in the top 6, yet complain when KK doesn't get played there.

Drury doesn't belong in the top 6 either, but unfortunately we have few options.

As far as Rod plays Staal as 2C. In his last 2 seasons here, Trocheck only trailed Aho in his TOI/GP for forwards.
Sunk cost fallacy runs wild here when it comes to KK.

I agree with you but she appears to be very close to RU players on the team (she knew Pono too) so perhaps this is feedback she is getting.

If that’s the feedback she’s getting, the players should be telling this to their coach, not to her. And the coach will tell you the same thing I said: Nothing has changed between now and the last few years. Why could you figure out how to play the system then, but are struggling to figure it out now?

They clearly know what he wants. Wouldn't be that surprising if they are just sick of actually doing it though.

Maybe, but they signed long-term deals with the understanding that they’d likely have to continue to play as such. So, at the end of the day, it’s like Rod said: They’re the top players on the team, they need to start playing like it.
