For setting record number of fines and PIM for calling out bullshit officiating?

EA Sports just released an update with their NHL game that apparently added the real coaches in the game, including mimicking their behavior. I’m hoping Rod’s is either yelling at the officials or standing there, cross armed, chewing bubblegum.

Which player on the Canes current roster would you vote for to be president?

Bonus points if you share your reason why.

nhl network Tulsky interview. Audio only.

It’s fascinating to hear him talk about a concept we’ve talked about for years. Why aren’t they giving Rod the team he actually needs? They chose to do it this year out of necessity and look at the early results. I’ve felt one of my primary issues with the TD era has been that management despite being called “brilliant” seems to have no concept of how their coach wanted to play and constantly was trying to add scoring/skill or quality vets when the system needs speed, forechecking, mobile defenseman who push the play and young legs. So on one hand it’s fantastic to see them take this step, on the other hand it boggles the mind to think about what the last build could’ve done if they had just leaned this way for them? Still, better late than never. I loved Kuzy, but Rod was never going to make that work. At the deadline this year we should be only looking for guys that fit the style. Jake did of course, it’s not like all players they chose were wrong. This summer felt different, though obviously necessity forced it.

No, EJ just stating how smart Tulsky is. I’d think it’s tiring for Tulsky to have to spend time going over his background every interview.
I think there were some tidbits in what Bleed alluded to. While fans a flipped out over this year's changes and the fact that the Canes brought in, on paper, weaker players, Tulsky came right out and said they targeted guys that fit how we play better and expect them to perform at a higher level here than maybe they have on other teams. And that it was really the pro-scouting department that had a big hand in that as opposed to just analytics.

Yeah, I've brought up a few times that Tulsky mentioned that was the strategy this summer when they knew they were losing a lot of guys. It's good that they focused on adding those types this year. But sometimes a coach does need to be flexible and figure out how to integrate other types of guys that can provide traits that can help you win. We might be seeing a bit more of that flexibility with Necas this year.

At the end of the day the missing piece for us has always been a guy who can consistently pick a corner.

I totally get what you're saying about the kinds of players we need, and maybe Guentzel wasn't going to be that guy for us in the long term, but the worst thing we can do is to just add grinders with a terrible shot. We've seen that play out in the playoffs, we grind and grind and the opposing goalie turns into the Berlin Wall because we are just pumping shots into the chest logo or missing the net by a foot only to see the one or two chances they get turn into a deflating goal against.

That's why I'm pleasantly surprised by Roslovic early this year, because he looks like the perfect add. If he continues this, we might have found our secret sauce. If anything, it reinforces just how good a grinder who might not have the best wheels and can't really create anything on his own, but has an ability to find the soft spot in the defense and has a good accurate shot he can get off quickly will play here. You add a second guy like that to load up the top 2 lines, and this team could suddenly be incredibly scary.

I agree. Word is Cory Stillman is currently unsigned and he would be a great retread who fits the description.
