Thought this was cool. Had no idea Glavine was drafted in the NHL. I think he choose the right sport to play tho.

Let us not forget our own Hurricane success story Jamie Hoffman. Quit hockey right after being drafted by us in 03 to play ball. Had a career so I’m guessing he made the right choice too.

Interesting piece in TBJ today. Tim Brent who was involved in real estate here in the Triangle for a while is starting a new venture here concentrating on the industrial real estate market. From the article:

"Tim Brent, who had a long career in professional hockey including time with multiple NHL teams before going into real estate, has officially left his role as executive vice president for the Southeast at Oppidan Investment Company of Minnesota. He has launched his own real estate venture, Longleaf Industrial, to focus on industrial real estate development throughout the Southeast."

He's once again going to be based in Raleigh (or so it appears).

Washington, DC.
Even if he had an average baseball career, he still would have made the right choice compared to a hall of fame hockey career. Pitchers make bank.
That's why he chose the way he did- he's said he enjoyed playing hockey much more, but thought he had better odds of making it to the bigs and making money in baseball, so that's the way he went.

And yeah, he was going to be the controlling partner in the group trying to buy the Thrashers. Damn shame that didn't come to be.

Well that's a shock. Just a week or two ago he was the favorite to be named team president.
Kind of makes one wonder if something on that front since might have made him more receptive to offers from outside the organization, or prompted him to accept a standing one.
