Can somebody explain to me.. If nhlpa files disclaimer of interest and the lockout is determined illegal by court, is the lockout over?

I read in the main lockout thread that the players apparently think there can still be a season less than 48 games and Fehr might try to get more from the league.

Honestly, if that's the case... I hope Bettman pulls the plug on the 10th or 11th and tells Fehr to go F himself and not to call him until June.

So are we not seeing hockey because of the salary cap?

I have no idea what these guys are still arguing about

Why wouldn't they think that since they were willing to play 28 games in '05? Of course Fehr also told MLB players the owners would never cancel the World Series too lol

The fact that the players asked for buyouts and the league agreed to 2 per team only to have players complain about buyouts now is mindboggling.

The union has been a showcase of incompetence thus far.

A lot of people have done the joke or posted a meme with the players not knowing what they want, but just knowing they want what they want and they want it now. I thought it was just a joke, but it's now to the point the players literally look like that meme.

No idea what that means, but it can't possibly be worth losing an entire season over. At least in 05 they were arguing over the implementation of a ****ing salary cap.

Exactly, and in 94 they were also, but the owners didn't get it.

This lockout is one of the dumbest things in the history of sports. I don't even mean dumbest lockout. It's far beyond that. I mean one of the dumbest events that's ever happened in a major sports league. In game related or off ice/field related. Like Lebrun said it's embarrassing. I don't feel the need to take a stand, and not wear any NHL merchandise during this thing, but I'll say one thing.

I'm hesitant to, because it's embarrassing walking around wearing NHL stuff during this time. Because the league has no prestige, and there is no integrity in this league at all right now. Why should I wanna wear the jerseys of a mickey mouse league that just feels like shutting down play as they please?

this entire situation feels like the platoon in Heartbreak Ridge before Gunny shows up. I just wish our Gunny would show up in this situation and kick a few ***** and rip out an ear ring or two and get this league back into shape.

Apparently the NHLPA thinks Fehr is the 'Swede'

I'd love to watch some hockey right now, but I'll say this too. If they cancel a whole season I think I'll be finding myself going hardline the other way like our friend nona weisbaum. I think if they take it away from me for a year, I won't look forward to next year.

My optimism meter(LOL Eklund!) just went down to from 55/45 that we have a season to 50/50. I predicted there would be one more blowup, and I guess this is it right now if you would even consider it one. I said it would go to the wire right to possibly 11:59 PM EST of the drop dead date. The one thing that took the 5 percent away is the reports of Fehr not wanting to get a deal. And the fact many have believed Fehr never wanted to make a deal, and wanted this thing in court. That's crept from the back of my head into the front a little more.

Paul Kelly was Gunny ,, But Lindros and others took him out

If Kelly was never removed ,, I think NHL/NHLPA dont miss single game this season as he geniuenly wanted to build a partnership with NHL and have stability in NHLPA/NHL relations

Also very underated movie IMO

Seems to have slipped into obscurity thru years ,, Most people today probably never seen it

So the players asked for buyouts, and now that the league agreed to it, they're upset because this means they can be bought out? You couldn't make this stuff up.

Obviously Gomez, and Redden didn't think it was possible for them to be bought out I guess!:sarcasm:

So I had some downtime at work today... and I decided I wanted to do something ridiculous and irrational.

I'm going to go to the city tomorrow either in the afternoon or at night and stand in front of the NHL offices with a sign that says "Left out in the cold by the game we love" or something to the effect of the Devils were supposed to play the Pens tomorrow blah blah blah.

I have a Ranger fan on the boards here that will get the idea out to Ranger fans and get a group if we can get some people that wouldn't mind going for a little while. There's nothing illegal about standing with a non-vulgar sign on the sidewalk in NYC. Thoughts?

The NHL doesn't care about you so why bother wasting your time, in the cold no less, for a bunch of jerkoffs who can't figure out how to split $3billion of our money

The players are upset because Bettman made a comment that there are owners who regret some of the contracts they signed in this last free agency period, when it's the owners arguing to lower the cap (necessitating buyouts) in the first place.

Well getting rid of two players via buyout and 'dismantling' a team are different. I could picture Bettman being enough of a weasel to say this, but TG put it well today in one of his tweets (he was on a roll earlier):

Tom Gulitti ‏@TGfireandice
My 2 cents: Bettman says things that anger players. Fehr does things that anger league/owners. Get over it, be adults and negotiate.

I'll admit I was on the players' side for much of the proceedings, but at this point, I can't defend anyone. It's getting to the point where I want to see the season canceled out of spite for everyone involved, and that can't be a healthy feeling.

You know what pisses me off? I don't wanna get into politics, but I feel it's valid with where this is going.

If this thing goes to FEDERAL court that's funded by the taxpayers! 95% of those people don't give two ****s about hockey or any of these people, and never have. Why clog up the federal courts with this BS?
