Or maybe the GM just did and has done a horrible job? Don’t really need Dater for that.

yup, the ultimate regret, he thought he would cake walk into Toronto with the core they had and ride the coat tails or Marner/Matthews/Nylander/Reilly who were a great young core and he'd got most of the credit, if he didn't drag the Islanders along to up his salary I am guessing the Leafs probably wouldn't have offered more than 9.5 million on him which was about his worth, his contract really screwed the Leafs over in multiple ways

Love it, I believe the top 2 lines were on the ice for all 6 goals against. Don’t want any of those losers on the Isles.

it will be really interesting to see if he still wants to cash in, there is no way the Leafs are going to pay him his market value after this, if Tavares wants to stay in good graces with Toronto he will sign a really team friendly deal

I could be wrong but he gave up so much to get there I can see him taking a discount. He’s happy that’s his dream and where he always wanted to be. His family is there. Unless it’s something ridiculous I think he tries to work it out and stay
