I actually like Tortorella and give him credit for saying what he did. He's not a great coach for a team in the midst of the rebuilding process because he'll make the team better than they should be in the standings. He's best when a team has the pieces in place but needs to change the culture and instill discipline.

I didn’t really get the dynamic there, Torts should have been let go at the end of last season with that swoon.

Philly either didn’t want to pay him out of his contract (doubtful) or Briere wanted Torts to be cover fire, do the dirty work on the roster, and eventually he’ll do what he did - he’ll self destruct making it an easy fire for Briere. It also avoids Briere from being responsible for a coaching hire.
