Not being a homer but legitimately trying to make sense of Noesen getting 0 games for chicken-winging a guy in the head and Tsyplakov getting 3 games for what was initially a shoulder to shoulder hit that then proceeded through to the guy's head. I'm not complaining about Tsyplakov's 3 games, just not understanding how Noesen gets 0 when he made a distinct motion to make contact with the guy's head?

The cap is going way up so that will help. I just don’t under why they didn’t play harder ball with him? I understand they don’t wanna risk losing him for nothing but that’s a tough contract even for an elite goalie.

I really thought they were gonna be a tough to beat team. I know Stamkos and Marchessault are older, but just thought with those pieces and on D, they were gonna do great.

Tough spot to be in as GM when you make moves you think are going to help immediately and have the season go like this.

They beat Boston tonight and regrettably they’re also a better, more formidable opponent than the Bruins for the wild card.

And it's designed to look like this, especially as teams play each other and play towards three-point outcomes. Being a few points out with teams to hop is a chasm in today's NHL. Regulation wins are crucial, for us and for the out of town scoreboard. I'll take that Rangers/Bruins outcome all day. I don't give a f*** about the Rangers or what they're doing as long as it helps the Isles.

I think it’s more enjoyable that the competition is going deeper into the season.

It also places an emphasis on not ‘accepting’ losing winnable games early in the season (hello Detroit as noted), that now are critical points and tie breakers in the standings. Like, right now Isles would be in the WC and Detroit would be outside of it.
