Yeah but selling out an arena outside of SLC requires 8000 couples to buy tickets where as in SLC a family unit is like one dude and three ladies, meaning only 4000 family units buying tickets = a sellout! Throw in kids and only 2000 family units = a sellout!

Every night will be Nickelodeon night.

I wonder if they'll move the Weber contract to a cap strapped team like Toronto or Vegas, allowing those teams to drop cash on more UFAs as well.
Considering their other LTIRs go UFA, that’s like $17M available. Smart on Weber, could see TB making such a move too.

SLC has a boatload of 2nds this year and next, those usually fetch a solid 2nd liner and 3-4-5 D-man.

In the past 10 years, there’s been an influx of transplants from the West Coast with gobs of cash. UT is still a very affordable place to live, overall.

The NHL is banking on local support, a growing area (less companies are moving to AZ like they used to as well…guess where they are going?), future Winter Olympics, and a winter sports culture.

They can wait out the arena with a public plan to build a new one.

Utah is a state that's leaking people as well. My guess is that a) the government there is a bit whacky, and b) non-religious millennials may find it stifling. It's a peculiar place, culturally speaking.

SLC is a nice city, though and they do have In and Out Burger.

You all underestimate the pull an old boomer like @MJF has for a Vegas good time!

He's making that trip in two hours, with time to spare for gas station chips and soda stop.
The trip seemed a lot shorter when we went there in 1998 lol.

‘rado blew a 3 goal lead in the third and lost in OT. Outshot 11-2 in the third.

Interesting how the Avs won a cup on some favorable conditions. Then, Landesgog went down, they filled up their cap space quickly with some ho-hum players. And here they are…doubtful they make the finals, let alone the second round.

What were their favorable cup conditions? And what is your implication with this post?

The shortened covid season; awful defensive play by team overall; their opponents were Nashville, Blues (binnington special); and free wheeling Oilers team. Vegas missed the playoffs, Dallas out in the first round. Their Cup was against a looking pretty tired TB.

Col got bounced in the first round last year, most likely this year. They had a lot of available cap space and not looking good on how it was used (by the younger, smarter GM).

Colorado didn't get a shortened season, they won in the 2021-22 season which was a full 82 game schedule.

Sure, but the same season with cancelled and rescheduled games? 10 teams got shut down. The cancelled Olympics participation? A normal 82 game season it was.

He’s made some really shrewd moves. Has successfully (somehow) dealt with Bob and his bloated contract, overcame the Q eject button, and made a big boy trade with CAL that’s worked perfectly.

Pretty amazing he passed through CLB, which has one ‘next step’ bomb after another.

I think the flyers are eliminated

Such a wild ending too. Tied it up very late and then scored late in the OT.
Wings play Canadians again tomorrow night

Washington plays flyers tomorrow.

Will be interesting to see the results tomorrow

The Flyers need everyone to lose in regulation and they get in I think. It'll go down to goal differential vs Washington.

I’m no expert, and just briefly checked, and you may be right, might come down to the 5th tiebreaker with Washington, which I think is head to head. No idea who wins that breaker
