Considering two of his Canes teammates (RBA, Williams) are in leadership positions, a third (Willis) is on the in-house media team, and two more (AWard, Weekes) are in national media, there's a VERY high chance Irbe makes headlines popping off at somebody.

Anybody else think McKegg is in the same boat as McElhinney, in that we like them, and want them back, but we would prefer short, cheap deals and they have a chance to get a couple years guaranteed out of someone and will probably leave?

I'd love to keep the band together, but I think it's important to have a spot or 2 open that can be earned by a prospect in camp. The depth we have in the system is insane right now IMO.

I personally have said I don't have much desire to keep McKegg short of a 1 year 2 way deal. If he gets better than that, go for it. He's not anything special at all.

I think McElhinney will get a better, longer term deal and move on as he was a quality back-up before he got to us.
I'm not sure McKegg will get more than a 1 year deal. He's almost 27 and has bounced from the AHL to NHL in every year. If he does get a better deal, then good for him.
