OT: New York Riveters/NY area women's hockey discussion

I am more interested in the womens tournament than the the other.
Today the US vs. OAR, lol I have heard of neutral zone traps but what in the world is a defensive zone trap? Lol in the 1st Russia, isn't even really trying, well not so much as not trying to score but holding on for dear life. I think they had 2 shots that were inside the blue line.

So far I am most impressed with Coyne, that girl can fly. The fact she almost as fast laterally as north/south is really cool.

Did my trial run today. Woke up for puck drop, left for work shortly after the first period ended. Got to my desk with 7 mins left in the 2nd. Not too bad. Will do the same for the men's game tomorrow AM. If there are any playoff rounds with a 710am game, well, I'm gonna work from home or show up late on those days :laugh:

I want the people who are looking to talk about the women be able to find it without the peanut gallery of the people who are just there.

Canada's 2nd goal was absolutely offsides, no? Am I crazy?

END 2: 2-0 Canada. Second goal should've never been. Shame on the linesman, and shame on the coaches. Was an obvious offside from my couch, so they should catch that.

Really like the looks the US got that period. Bodes well for the future. Need to find some finish.

Props to Jocelyne Lamoureux for the attempted fake between the legs dangle on that penalty shot.

I really have no idea how USA doesn't score in the last minute of that game. So, so many chances. Whiffs, bad bounces, posts. Ugh.

Knight should have scored at the end there. Is there something to the US women clutching their sticks a little tighter in the Olympics? They seem to do this every Olympics against Canada.

Could be. Knight, like all goal scorers, is a streaky player. It's why I desperately wanted her to score in one of the first two games, to make sure she got thtat boost of confidence.

Really, though, this team has had trouble scoring for a bit now, and cutting Alex Carpenter didn't help that at all.

I liked their game, though. If the gold medal game plays out exactly the same way, with a bounce or two going in our favor, and maybe the coach challenging an obvious offsides...
