Perfectly fine with giving McMic a go at C again, with the gains he's made this season, who knows, maybe it could be what he needed to excel there again and solidify the 3rd line; then again, it could disrupt the 2nd and unravel the entire team

Yep, we’re in the part of the season where the good teams play better and the pretenders slip….

Which one are we is the question.

We’re at the part of the season where players have to slog through until the ASG and trade deadline. January and February are the doldrum months of the season for these guys. The excitement of the new season is gone, the bumps and bruises start to add up, and the end of the season seems a long way away.

Nothing about this team has screamed pretender. They’re a good team at even strength. They have balanced scoring. They have a deep blue line and two good goaltenders. They’ll slip back to the pack a bit since their pace was unsustainable the first 35 games and they’re not going to finish with 125+ points but this team isn’t a house of cards buoyed by special teams or unsustainable goaltending.
