New York Rangers vs New York Americans circa 1938

My Dad used to tell me about going to MSG to see the Rangers and the Americans play. The player that made the biggest impression on him was Ching Johnson. Though it was much later, Dad took me to my first game in 1961. Rangers lost to Toronto.

Back in those days players used to show up to the game with obstructed tix in hand, would give them to kids outside the garden, my Dad used to be one of those kids in the late 1950's.

Blatant head hunting in these videos. Free wheeling, old time hockey. Just a very different look to the game. I wish there were more classic games from this era available.
