Thank god, was legit worried we would lose a draft pick.
I don’t think that’s on the table. I’m no expert, but I would think something like that is only possible for something more ‘material’. Like what Arizona did. In fact, I doubt the league ever actually collects this 250k.

This will be a suspension for sure, as a FU to NYR if for no other reason.
Yeah. And I expect the officiating to be especially bad for the next couple of matches and maybe even throughout next season. It’ll be like they tested Quinn his first season, but on steroids.

For someone who's supposedly been watching hockey for 60 years, you really have no idea what you're talking about. Ever.

Perhaps. But what I see is a group of NHLPA players getting softer and our Rangers are at the forefront of the movement. So either New York quickly gets tougher, with some type of intimidation factor in the lineup, to jump into contention now, or continue on their path of skill and speed while lobbying the league for a crack down on what may be deemed any form of "intent to injure". Am I playing the Devil's advocate on this board? Of course. Do I like to watch a softer game? No I don't. But that's what I see. It's a softer future ahead for the game of hockey. The Rangers need to decide which way to play it so they may succeed within legal parameters of the day. They need to get tougher or the league needs to change the rules so that I may join you in my disdain for the DOPS's failure to crack down on violence in the game.

I think the decision blew up in his face but there were no grounds for suspension, other than the fact it was Wilson. If the Rangers don't like it, they should have the rules changed. A kinder, gentler, NHL would benefit this squad. They stood up strong last night but it's not enough to succeed within the current rules. More evidence coming soon when Pavel gets his suspension announced. The Rangers could be a top force if they can get fighting banned/game misconduct. That would soften the game up.
Try looking up slew foot in the rule book.

Tom Wilson is the Luckiest SOB, POS in the NHL Circus.
The narrative went from him being a unhinged lunatic juicer to a New York Rangers Press release to two executives losing their jobs to a $250,000.00 dollar fine to Pavel Buchnevich being suspended for one game.
Who’s Tom Wilson? What did he do? Oh that thing, wasn’t that like two years ago?

This is getting media attention beyond the sports websites.

From the Daily Beast:

Edit: Damn it, I can’t post a screenshot here for some reason.

Only $250K? That's chump change for Donal. He probably spends more than on his women, booze, and nose candy on a weekend.

Hope Bettman’s still commissioner when we win the Cup and we boo the shit out of him.

He wouldn't care. He gets booed wherever he goes and he couldn't care less.
The guy has made millions out of a sport he appears to have no real interest in. The noises coming from people he has absolutely no interest in are not going to faze him

so question, what happens if Dolan refuses to pay? Like what legal authority do leagues have to issue such fines as in how does this play out if Dolan goes to court?

So 5 time suspended psycho POS Wilson gets a 5k fine and no suspension for mugging Buch while defenseless and nearly smashing Panarin's helmetless head on the ice, and the Rangers get 250k fine and Buch gets a 1 game suspension for a crosscheck. The Bettman NHL is an F'ing clown show.

League had to do it, or Caps would make a mess next time Wilson gets a suspension. The "correct" way to handle Parros would have been to do it by the board meetings. But totally support the statement, and it put a lot of pressure on the DOPS to get its shit together.

It is in the constitution and by-laws of the NHL that the commissioner may fine a team or owner up to $1 000 000 for "conduct detrimental to the league". He has "full and complete authority" to make the call. There is no case to be made in the legal system.

I have seen him and his family outside of hockey so that is why I like him outside of this job. That does not mean he is making great decisions. The system is kind of bad as well. $5000 max fine is silly.
Agreed.. I don’t even disagree with your original take on Parros.. However, like I said you might be the only one..
