What does one do with Talbot this offseason? To me, he's starting to prove his worth as a starting goalie but, he's a very valuable asset as a backup to Hank.

He's cemented himself as a solid back up. There's no way to know how he would handle the work load of being a starting goalie though. He hasn't played more than 2 or 3 consecutive games. Plus, he's signed through next season, why do we have to do anything with him?

With the amount of goaltenders there are out there, I cant see anyone over paying for an undrafted 26 year old with 20 games experience. But that's just me. I could totally be wrong.

Very true but I think the Bryzgalov's, Emery's and Elliot's remain unsigned. IMO, I think teams searching for a legit #1 would rather take their chances on a "younger" 26 year old who was second behind a world class goalie.

He's obviously having a productive season as backup. Maybe he looks to go elsewhere as a possible starter? Do you use him as trade bait? You know what I'm saying.

Unless some GM makes a dumb move and wants to overpay for him, you don't think about trading him. He's worth way more as a solid back up than he is in a trade. His value wouldn't be much.

I keep him as a back up. Let him prove this season wasn't a fluke. He may think he can be a starter and jet next off season and that's fine, we still have that Lundqvist guy.

I thought the Oilers signed the latest hot mastermind of a coach. I hear that he removed all the pictures of former Oiler glory from the clubhouse. They should not be THAT bad.

key two goals for Mats Zuccarello who hadn’t scored since the outdoor game against the Devuls.*

That was on the SNYrangersblog...

It's been the best season by a backup, probably in team history. And Cam's performance, without it we wouldn't be in the playoff picture right now. So for that he deserves thanks, and beyond that, we know if anything happens we have a guy who gives us a shot. He's exceeded even my expectations for him which were lofty in comparison to much of the board.

Didn't valliquette have like 5 shutouts and 15+ wins for us here one year? I remember him shutting out toronto literally every time
I'd say that is a strong candidate for best year as a backup in forever.

I'd take the latter two with open arms as our back up. Talbot is signed for next season, don't know where the talk of extending him this offseason is coming from.

I'm glad someone finally said it if I did I would be called a dino...What really bothers me is Rongos...That's more disrespectful to me than Rags

Yeh, this board has like turned into something very cartoony. I can't even understand some of the names up there - its like not funny ha ha.

The Oilers look like they're ready to disband.

Nah, I think they're ready to datband. :sarcasm:

St. Louis was really good but Richards has to stop forcing every single pass to him trying to get him a goal. That's not going to help him score. Make the right play. Take a shot and maybe hell knock in a rebound. If he's open give him the puck. Don't try to force it through three guys to get it to him. That obviously is not going to work.

MSL's lack of production has left ridiculous territory and is now at absolutely hilarious. I'm almost watching games now just to see the new and creative ways he finds now to score.
