Can't we just sign Paul Ranger?

Anyway, at this point signing Redden is about a non move as Mike Mottau, so who cares?

Ranger wants to stay at the AHL level. Who knows if he's ever going to want or has the passion to play in the AHL again. With his past issues the AHL might be good enough for him, not as much pressure on him, and he can go around the city without being recognized.

I'd be alright with that if it was a 1 year contract. We've really only got Phaneuf, Gunnarsson, Liles, and Komisarek as locks until Gardiner comes back. I'd rather let Rielly finish a year in the WHL instead of rushing him as an 18 year old. Redden would compete with Franson, Holzer, Fraser, and Kostka for the final two spots. And we could always send him down to the Marlies if it doesn't work out.

I guess as a reclamation project, $1M is fine for a serviceable d-man like Redden. Gomez is barely NHL-caliber, but Redden is still a bottom pairing NHL-caliber defenseman.

Gomez has been playing in the NHL while Redden has been in the AHL for a number of years. How do you make this assumption lmao.

Wasn't there a report last year that this guy doesn't have NHL speed anymore? I think it came from a scout.

It was either about Redden or Finger.
