IF this is true (I doubt it personally), unless the dude flipped when he got the news, that's really unprofessional and mean-spirited.
He is a fiery guy. So, I wouldn't be surprised if he voiced his anger given that he may or may not have had control over the OC position when ARod arrived. And who knows his input on drafting Wilson.
He fixed the Defense, but if he didn't have his guys on offense in terms of the OC role, then he should be angry about being fired.
The trend is towards offensive HC, so he's knows he has to pull a Quinn and be a DC for 2-3 years and have them at a top level before another chance comes his way.

But, would be surprised that it would get to a level where security would be needed.

There is no way one of the top OCs will go to the Jets to work with Rodgers, IMO. They have eyes. They can see he's washed and the Jets have no plan B on QB. Signing of for that head coach gig likely means getting bullied by Rodgers until he retires, and then rolling the dice on a new QB.

Browns position will likely be open, but... yeah. Bengals, Jaguars, Raiders, Eagles are all potential options that are probably preferable.

Of course they will.

Let’s think it through logically. They’ll be going in with the full understanding that Rodgers is there with one more year on his contract.

Saleh did not take the Jets job knowing that Rodgers was his starting QB - - Rodgers got dumped on him whether he wanted him or not.

Saleh was in over his head as a HC. He’s a decent DC, but way out of his depth as the HC. Being stuck with an incompetent gimp like Nate Hackett as the OC/coffee fetch also didn’t help things because Saleh wasn’t able to step in and take over play calling for the offence.

Okay, go ahead and present your logic chain that leads you to think that they would be interested in going to a team with a washed QB for one year who has proven to have no interest in getting coached, followed by not having a QB the year after.

The next HC will know that Rodgers only has one year remaining. It’s not like we’re talking about one year of Nate Peterman as QB.

The Jets have a very good talent on defense and some excellent weapons on offence. The team has talent - - it just needs some competent coaching.

Cannot have a HC who accepts so many dumb penalties without hold the players accountable. Saleh was even making excuses for the OLine taking false start penalties by blaming it on Rodgera’ snap count fooling them.

What are their excellent offensive weapons? They have a WR1, that's about it. They also have an offensive line that's providing no run game and is bleeding pressures, and a 42 year old QB who's looking washed, soon followed by no QB at all.

Why would an offensive minded head coach go there?

Bengals won't be open. Saleh can go there as DC though.

Wilson is a very good WR and he’s still on a rookie deal.
Hall and Allen are an excellent RB duo and both are also still on rookie contracts.

Saleh is definitely not HC material. Do the 49ers bring him back as DC ASAP?
He will sit back and collect his HC for the rest of the season. Pick his spot as DC next year or take it off if he is still under contract. He will get offers to be a DC for sure. Have to pick one with talent so that he can get that unit to the top of the league to earn his next HC spot.

I don’t see him going back to SF.

The Jets have the fewest rushing yards per game in the NFL. They have the 3rd fewest yards per attempt.

That's not going into how RBs aren't expensive, either in FA or in the draft.

That's not excellent offensive weapons. That's one weapon, and two backs who may be good behind a good run blocking line, but clearly aren't difference makers.

The Jets have scored the exact number of points this year as last year.
Wilson versus Rodger’s.
The common denominator is Hackett.

They start every game with a couple of runs off tackle.
Gain 3 or 4 yards.
Then get blitzed and punt.

No motion at all.
Plain vanilla offense.

As long as Hackett and Rodger’s are together.
We are dead.

One of best D’s in football.
The worst offense by far.

You think Zac Taylor is safe? I think the Bengals might be getting sick of their slow starts.

But yeah, it's probably the least likely opening on that list.
Bengals have a cheap owner, they’re not gonna want to pay two guys. He’s clearly a good coach, too. Look at how long they kept Marvin Lewis past his expiration.

This is the first time the defense hasn’t really been good under Taylor. He will get a chance to address it.
