That much is evidently clear now.

I don’t think it’s crazy to prefer Engstrom as a prospect at this point.
Yep.

Mailloux has one elite thing..his shot..thats it.

Swear to god..first time I saw him in Junior I did not believed what I saw....:

Twice in a span 5 minutes I saw him in his own zone in front of the net...watching the opposite forward.....

..then the 2 opposite defensemen did some passes to each other at the blue line.......

Then Mailloux started to chase them all the way to the blue line...he was like a chicken with no head ( poule pas de tête )

We learn to not doing this as a defenseman in Atom..or Pee wee for god sake.

This guy is absolutely awful in his zone..and as a d.........sorry but he will not make it as a regular NHL

Ah, yeah I forgot Fowler.

Beck has good potential he’s just not very exciting, personally.
Danault wasn’t a particularly exciting prospect either but he was a valuable piece for us.

Beck is being passed off by some as a 4th liner, but realistically that’s his floor. His upside is middle-6 center. I think he ultimately ends up a 3rd line C but his upside potential is a notch above that.

1: Demidov
2: Hage
3: Reinbacher
4: Fowler
5: Beck
6: Engstrom
7: Dobes
8: Kapanen
9: Mailloux
10: Roy

Even with Hutson out that list is still really good. I ranked Kapanen 8 and he is almost ppg in sweden at 21 could be a good 3rd liner if everything go well.

Edit: Roy over Mesar for #10

Wow, I'm not disagreeing, I'm just asking: why have Engstrom above Mailloux?

It’s pretty straight forward, Engstrom can defend. He doesn’t possess the kind of offensive potential that Mailloux does but he has an excellent first pass and good vision.

Lots of people have been bullish on him since his SHL days, he really does project as a good all-around defenseman.

Engstrom doesn’t have the glaring flaws and still has pretty electric upside.

I do think if Mailloux can iron out the D Sid wolf things and REALLY work on his quickness he can still be a great player. I think he looks better by the end of the year

Like you said, still a very good list which will get better with the 2 first rounders we will be adding in 6-7 months.

Based on play in Laval recently I would put Engstrom above Mailloux

Still to early to know or act with any authority. What I have learned over the years is don't fall for the up and downs on the rollercoaster ride.

I prefer to rank in waives of talent. Listing one after another does not mean as much as listing them in waives of talent. Right now, both Mailloux and Engstrom are in the same waive.

I’d have Davidson at #9 and Tuch at # 10.

The rest is about right. I still cringe thinking about the decision to take Reinbacher over Leonard.
