I hope they find a way to keep the old wolf. But the way this city rolls, I just want to see shovels in the ground. Any development in Sudbury is faced with huge opposition. So much potential, but no willingness to progress. Fingers crossed...

I wouldn't be surprised to see this project balloon to over $300+ million after all is said and done...really goes to show that if the right decisions were made earlier, could have saved almost $200 million on a new arena, the Sault built the GFL almost 20 years ago (my god our arena is getting old lol) for $25 million

If it’s “projected” to cost $200M, you know for sure it’s going to end up being closer to $300M.

A decade ago, Sudbury had little to no municipal debt - - only $19M. It’s now at $355M and by the time this white elephant arena project is finished, it’ll be close to a BILLION in municipal debt.

Dumping that much money into a junior hockey area is one of the dumbest decisions imaginable. Adding in a casino is even dumber.

First of all, brick and mortar casinos are on the decline because there’s so many online gambling options available now. More importantly, when people are struggling to pay their mortgages and facing escalating property taxes, the last thing they need to be doing is wasting a few hundred dollars at a useless casino.

Back in the day, when the arena was built, they used a piled wood foundation in the corners. After an inspection a year or so ago, they found that the corners were very old and might have dry rot causing the corners to sink.

This arena cannot be fixed or upgraded and will eventually be unsafe for use.

Either a new arena is built or the team finds another suitable solution to alleviate the problem.

There is no choice but to build or relocate the team.
