Sidebar doesn't occur when viewing HF in Mobile mode. Could be an option for those people who absolutely can't stand it.

(Mobile mode can be found in the bottom left corner of any page on HF in the horizontal red bar)

don't like that there's another "scroll over" ad on top of it that I have to avoid now too. The 1 on top of the page was enough, now there's 2.

Other than that it doesn't bother me, I just don't look at it.

Exactly. It is pointless people will see new threads when they visit boards they are interested in anyways

It's not pointless for the owners as it gives more ad revenue slots. That being said it is cluttered. There is now too much on the screen and gives it an unprofessional look - it almost looks like a webpage that was put together ten years ago. The mods are constantly taking threads down to keep the boards more streamline, this is definitely counter intuitive to that.

It's needless and horrendous. I nearly thought my sponsorship was revoked initially. It's also so visually unappealing. Takes up too much space as well.

It's a hideous eyesore and whoever had the idea should be fired

So, is the introduction of this nonsense the real reason they wanted to cut down on the number of stickied threads? I just renewed my sponsorship so I don't need to see any ads on here and you people introduce this crap -- which is far more distracting than most ads.

At the very least, sponsors should be allowed to turn this garbage off -- because for them, no ads are shown in that space so the owners won't be losing anything.

It is an effort to drive more traffic to our parent site, Hockey's Future. Not to the message board itself.

Piss poor effort then. Not a good move, there much better ways of doing that.

Well, as a result of this change, I will now make a deliberate point to never visit the parent site until something is done to get rid of this nonsense.

I pay my sponsorship to avoid ads, clutter and other stuff on this site. If its here to stay, then I won't be renewing my sponsorship again.

I dunno, it gets a bit annoying for me in GDTs when I have to be able to make posts within 30 seconds of each other and I can't

It's really poorly styled. And the typography sucks. It's very distracting due to this, in a bad way.

Very poor design. Some designer should be ashamed.

The idea isn't terrible, just the execution.

HF itself already looks somewhat outdated and unprofessional. This new side bar has potential but is complete garbage. HF's is actually a decent looking site, I don't understand why they haven't used its design style of at least some of it on these forums.

With the help of youtube I could code a better side bar than that. Nothing makes me want to click on the links of the articles. It looks like it is from the late 90's.

The twitter feed has potential but again it is only HF's feed. It could be a good idea if they added a couple other people to the feed.

Finally, the thread part is actually a good idea but again looks like **** and it broken. Also it should be featured in the middle instead of the bottom.

Pretty Hilarious how Hockeybuzz somehow looks better than HFBoards now

While you're right that the main site looks more updated in design and professional by comparison, it's still very image heavy in the design like a site from the mid-2000s would look.

They need new designers, badly.
