Anyone get in on any stocks?
I have stocks, but I try to stay away from the speculative ones. Those become a thrill ride up and down and I do not have the stomach for that with any real money.

A few years ago I put a tiny amount of money into a bitcoin fund, just to watch it move. And besides, if bitcoin went to $500,000 a bitcoin I would make some real money. It dropped by about 70% from what I paid for it (should have bought more), then recently rose to double what I paid for it, and now has dropped from there to only about 40% more than I paid for it. Plus in the meantime it split 91 to 1, giving me a really odd number of shares. I sold some with a small profit just to give me an even number of shares. It is not my usual style, but it has been interesting.

Nice, good for you! I am not in stocks at all, but put in $50 just to see where it goes.

Based on the activity on another forum it looks like a lot of young first timers are chasing big wins now. God bless them, I'm staying out.

Why is this called bread anyway?

Vincent Jackson is dead at 38 years old. f***, that's way too young. Always liked him on the Chargers and on my fantasy football team!
Pretty ominous that he had been staying in a hotel room for a month and had a missing persons case opened and closed by his family. Expecting some brain scans.

I didn't even see that part, just saw the headline while I was on my lunch break. That is very tragic to hear. I really enjoy football but the things that happen to the players after they retire are so distressing.

Got this delicious beer at some random BBQ place around the corner from me and I'm trying to find a store nearby to get more but everywhere online is sold out. Do you think it would be frowned upon if I just kept ordering the beer in a mason jar from the BBQ place but not get any food? Or maybe show up with my own growler?

If Chik-fil-a isn't going to be open on Sundays then they shouldn't advertise on Sundays!
The atlanta falcons made a big deal about bringing it to their stadium and fans were pretty excited until realizing they would not be open on sundays.

What do you guys pay to watch NHL? My provider is canceling my original sub, and I have to pay about $45/month from now on (which is an increase of 225%). Sadly they have payed to get full monopoly in Scandinavia so I cannot watch on NHL TV.

The answer is "who knows"? I get the Ducks and Kings in my cable package, along with NBC Sports and NBC. The Ducks, Kings and NBC Sports are included in a package of about 60 channels. I cannot break out just the channels that I want, so I pay for the entire package. I pay about $35 - 40 per month for Center Ice during the season. I haven't broken out the monthly cost for this season, which is a reduced cost from a regular season. But then I didn't get a refund for the missed games from last year, so that upped the monthly actual price. I don't pay for the package that includes the NHL channel. At some point I just have to say, enough is enough.

For sports that seems to be the go-to thing, bundle everything so everybody has to pay the full package deal. Was just curios about costs in other countries.

I guess you mean Viaplay? I watch NHL through them and have paid 35 euros (~$42) per month for many years now. That also includes most UFC main cards plus all their movies and TV shows (and a bunch of other sports I hardly ever watch). Now that I checked I see they no longer offer a sports-only package. That could be a new thing, is that what you used to have? (Although I think that used to be €29/$35 so that wouldn't be such a large price hike.) I live in Finland, btw.

Would be nice to have a sports only package for €10 cheaper. But then again, I guess it's the exclusive sports deals that costs them a lot of money. The movies/tv-series is more of a bonus.
