Nah. McCann would be a 40g scorer on NJ pretty easily. Gourde still has value and someone will give us a 1st for him.

Not underselling Nemec at all, he's a great prospect and piece and I think underrated in a lot of these proposals. I've seen a few NJ fans say that they would trade Mercer and Nemec for Gourde and McCann though, and I think that's a good basis for a deal for both teams, and as a SEA fan would be willing to add a pick or prospect as well to get the deal done.

I agree that he isn't worth a 1st, and that probably a 2nd and 3rd at 50% should be enough, but I also have seen this tale many times and GM's can and will go apeshit for guys like Gourde, especially when he's a great playoff performer still. Wouldn't be shocked in the slightest if he got a 1st. He may very well not, but who knows.

McCann is definitely NOT one of them.

And if you put him on PP1 to feel better about the trade, it doesn't help your team since you already have a top 3 PP and that production will just be taken away from someone else.

He literally had 30 last year and 40 the year before. Why wouldn't he get PP1 time? He's arguably a better goalscorer than anyone else on NJ bar Hughes. And over the last 2 years he has the 26th highest EV goals, 4 behind Jack Hughes on a much worse team. And they had the same number of PPG. McCann did have more PP minutes though...about the same as the PP1 unit on NJ, while being much more successful?

Yeah. Pre injury, I believe gourde would have returned a late first in this bad draft, his last playoffs in 2023 he had 13 points in 14 playoff games, and he is still a great bottom six center, but with him recovering from a hernia, there is not going to be any sort of bidding war and his value will be decreased.

As for the original offer for McCann, I feel like the second is an overpay and should be taken out and would make the value closer.
