Proposal: New Jersey - Minnesota

Just for kicks I really want to hear what NJ fans think Nico’s value is.
Nico Hischier doesn't have value. He is the franchise more so than Jack Hughes or anyone else on the roster.

There's a list of maybe like 5-8 players in the league that you could trade Hischier for 1-for-1 that wouldn't set the franchise back 10 years and you know exactly who those players are. This thread is a non-starter.

Just saying it even louder for the non-Devils fans in the back:

NICO IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PLAYER ON THE TEAM

Yes, Jack Hughes is their “best” player, but Nico is their most important. He is the heartbeat of the team and irreplaceable. No one on the team can replace what Nico brings.

Hischier age 23: 19:21 average time on ice. 46 even strength points.
GP 70
G 21
A 39
Pts 60
+/-: -1

Rossi age 23: 18:15 average time on ice. 44 even strength points.
GP 82
G 24
A 36
Pts 60
+/- : 3

This isn’t horrible. Bad? Maybe; but this isn't as atrocious as some are saying. And Rossi wasn’t given a fair chance this year with linemates.
Sure that's fair on paper but 2 important things here and I'm a fan of Rossi but he has limitations.

1) Hischier is an elite 200foot #2 center and Rossi is never going to have as much impact overall as him.

2) with Hughes as your number 1 center having another small center who isn't an elite skater just isn't good team building for NJ so they wouldn't be interested IMO.

Hischier is worth Boldy, roughly. Boldy's contract is better because it has more years to run. Boldy is also two years younger. Hischier plays C, which is worth more than a wing. I don't see either team doing that trade. NJ desperately needs Hischier. Boldy would be a luxury for them...nice, but a luxury.

Meier is the guy who has been a bit of a dud, relative to his contract. I would think that NJ would be happy to trade him, but I don't see many takers out there for a 50 point wing on a 9M cap hit.

Buffalo would probably have to add a couple 1st rounders to Tage Thompson to get Rossi if we compared their 23 year old seasons using this logic.

I wouldn't even call it logic. I'd call it mental gymnastics.
