If Tatar can score six goals in his last twenty games thatd make our top-7 point producers all 20+ goal scorers
How often/whens the last time something like that happened?
The 11-12 team had a bunch, but the bottom-6 on that team was one of the worst we've had in a playoff making season. That may have been the worst bottom 6 we've had in a playoff making season and we had some BAD ones back in the day and there was always at least one goon playing.
The way the 3rd line looked to end the season/start the playoffs was good, but it was horrific in the regular season, particularly for the first half of the season. It had Tedenby and his like 6 or 8 points and 1 goal in the first 40 games he played before he was thrown in the minors after we traded for Ponikarovsky. Josefson did his usual not scoring for the half season's worth of games he played. Ryan Carter was one of the best waiver pickups we've ever had, but he was stuck playing with at least one of Janssen or Boulton every game and sometimes he was even centering the BOTH of them. Remember the line brawl game with the Rangers when they were all out there? Some of the forward call ups that year were awful like Brad Mills, Steve Zalewski. Veilleaux (I probably spelled that name wrong) played a game. Nick Palmieri was not as good as his run the season before with Kovalchuk and was regularly shuttled back and forth to Albany. Thank god Pete put an end to Rod Pelley, he should have never been a regular thing EVER.
I think David Clarkson was the only regular point producer that played regularly in the bottom 6 that year and he may have even compiled a decent amount of his points/goals on the power play that season.
But I'm getting away from my point here. I think we had 5 guys that scored 20 or more goals that year. Did Zubrus hit 20 goals? If he didn't he just barely missed 20.
Kovalchuk, Parise and Clarkson all 30 or more goals and Elias had like 26 goals that year and Sykora even scored 20 or 21 goals that year. So we had 5 guys that had 20 or more goals. I think Zubrus and Henrique just barely missed 20 goals.
I had to look it up. Zubrus had 17 goals and Henrique had 16 goals. I thought I remembered some stat that we were the only team to have that many 15+ goal scorers that year? Which was 7 guys of 15 or more goals.
That was a lower-ish scoring year in the league though and a .914% average save percentage year, which it would eventually be .914% again the next 82 game season after that and .915% the two seasons in a row after that, but that was still quite a bit than the current .905% average.
