We're back at The Rock for tonight's matchup as the New Jersey Devils face the Toronto Maple Leafs. Now we'll kick it over to Bill Spaulding & Ken Daneyko as they get us ready for tonight's game

Ohhhh my partner does it feel good to be home or what!? I'm so excited to see this place jumping after a long road trip!

You said it, Dano. It's gotta feel good for this Devils team to get some home cooking in after what was, a pretty successful road trip if I do say so myself ha ha! Tonight we're looking at a few guys that are really making their mark this season and are hoping it pays off for them in the end.

You got that right partner! Those two young stallions are have fantastic seasons, just great folks as well.

Isn't that the truth or what. And you know, you really paved the way for them in what being a Devils player is all about Dano!

Aw come on partner, I had some great teammates along the way---

Sorry to cut you off Dano but is that? It is! It's the biggest money in the bank winner yet, Auston Matthews & his sidekick Kyle Dubas rushing the rink!

toronto is still a tough opponent even missing those couple guys. and they have a tendancy to respond strongly after a dud-ish outing, which they kinda had the other night in Vancouver.

No Tavares, no O'Reilly, no excuses. Looking for a W here and cleaning up the backend. 12 GAA over the last 3 games isn't ideal. I think Schmid should start.

Hoping to see a strong performance against the Leafs tonight, the Hughes line continue building chemistry with Meier,...

...and no disallowed goals.
Hopefully, since we aren't on a 13-game heater looking to break our Franchise-record, the Toronto War Room won't care whether we score or not since there's nothing worth f**king us over this time around. (F'n chodes) :eviltongu

I think they'll let Vitek work out of it, but I expect Schmid will be in for the Montreal game.

Possibly the Washington game if Vitek has another stinker.

I don't think the staff really cares about playing Vitek against his former team, as they started Blackwood against Washington the first time we played them this year, which was the first game of a back to back, with Detroit the next night. A lot of people were confused that they didn't give Vitek the start against his former team and Blackwood was bombed in that game and they wound up having to put Vitek in there to relieve him.

Vanecek is still the presumptive starter. I'd be surprised if he didn't get this game.

As you say, I think they'll let him work out of the funk for now. But I hope they have a quick hook in the playoffs if he bombs again and Schmid ends up being the better option.

With our luck it'll be Blackwood back in there by that point and he'll be thrown in there.

It doesn't mean he can't play well for a handful of games, as we saw 2018 Cory come in and play heroic after really bottoming out down the stretch in the regular season and then continuing his steep decline the next year.

But I'm not confident that would be the case with Blackwood.

I still wonder how much confidence the coaching staff/management has in Schmid in present day as a goalie who can help right now.

I do think Schmid is overachieving a bit in the NHL this year, but hopefully not by much.

We can, hopefully, save and enjoy our chicken tenders tonight. Haula will have to find food elsewhere.
