I still think all you people are overcomplicating this and it is really simple:

If the Devils are able to dictate the pace they will win the series.

If the Rangers contain the Devils speed they will win the series.

It's really going to be that simple. You can talk about goaltending, toughness, experience or any other ancillary topics you want; If the Devils work their transition game and open up the ice they will win the series the Rangers cannot skate with that NJ team. If the Rangers find a way to impede NJ's game and slow them down they will win the series.

As a NYR fan, I think you fans of other teams need to stop acting like NYR go out and target players physically. I get it, trouba took out Crosby. Trouba throws bit hits. Cool. Take away Trouba for a second and look back at how NYR play in the playoffs, we don't exactly play any different. We don't try and hit players to instil fear. All team will be coached to play tightly, but we dont. They won't be targeting Hughes. Trouba will go for a big hit if it's there but it won't be player specific. It'll be whoever is there.

Don't know why, if you force him to actually play his position instead of an extra forward position hes extremely meh. PP and allowing him to join the rush is where he creates, attention to detail on defense is all that is required to slow/stop the little person

but games #3 and 4 will be a different story.

This isn't about "Trouba throwing big hits" that happen to hurt people

This is about elbowing Crosby in the head in game 5 with Pitt up 3-1 in the series, elbowing Crosby AGAIN in the head in game 7 along with Guentzal (also in the head) in game 7. Its also about elbowing Domi and Jarvis or maybe Necas? hard to keep up at this point.....Also the most obvious "hard hit" the flying elbow that Palat had to duck out of the way of on an offside play in the conference finals. Palat later scored the game winner because you know, he was still IN THE GAME unlike what Trouba tried to accomplish. If you "take away Trouba for a second" you lose in 5 games to Pitt in the first round last year....What else is there to look back at?

To say he didn't target specific players is insane. he hurt 4 players totaling 99 goals and another narrow escape from Palat who scored an additional 18 for Tampa. come on....either hes targeting goal scorers on the other team or he's the luckiest guy in the league for randomly elbowing the best players on the other team each round

At first they won’t target anyone. Once Hughes starts dominating them with no answer to slow him down , Captain Elbows will be taking runs at him.
You dont think teams target certain players ? For sure they do. Maybe not to try to injure , but try to agitate and finish checks , hit him as often as possible to get him off is game.

Turns out, Jarry was actually the 3rd string goalie the whole time and had he been in net, the Rangers would have swept the Penguins.

If Trouba did take out one of the Devils with his chicken wing elbow to the head move … I for sure would want someone like Lazar to skate full speed into Sheshterkin or take runs at Panarin.
