Don't worry, I think we'll be buying him out next year. That I'm pretty confident of. Just one more year of the Kremlin Kone being given ice time because he's an entitled veteran.

Can't they throw Tedenby or Loktionov on IR? I know they're practicing, but can't they say they're still ''Sore''?

You need to prove it somehow . By medical test or something

you can put players on IR retroactively and he was hurt awhile ago. Would mean he isn't eligible to come off til sometime this week, but we don't play til Thursday so who cares.

Well... *something* has to be up. Even if we IR one of the forwards and assign Larsson, that only buys a couple of days. At least one, maybe two if continuing IR is not plausible, will need to be moved or exposed to waivers in the very near future.

Lou likes waiving guys after the deadline for rosters but before the season opens.. because most teams will have full rosters and won't be able to make any claims. It gives it a surer shot that the players pass through fine.

Tedenby is practicing, but he hasn't played a game since Game 1 of the preseason. Jagr is in the same boat. So both can be retroactively put on IR I think to buy some time.

Not so sure about the retroactive part. Technically, IR only opened today for the first time so not sure if we can place someone retroactively on IR before it opened.

Hence why Pronger was only put on LTIR today (or will at some point today).. during training camp, he was on 'active' roster.

Yeah, but if it's a guy we're afraid would be claimed, that'll effectively stick him with the A-Devils for the season, right? Short of moving them in a deal, of course. At the very least, it buys far more time for a guy that wouldn't fit in the current plans.

I know we carefully timed Butler last year for that reason.

Waivers are only on the way down, not the way up. Re-entry waivers are no more under this CBA.

There isn't waiver on recalls this year I thought?

Likely forever.

PA realized that it only hurts their players sent down in the minors because the fear at losing a player at one half of their cap hit (while keeping the other half themselves) represented a major obstacle that would force teams to just let a player wallow away in the AHL until the end of the season.

I think that's because teams are allowed to be over the cap in the preseason. I read yesterday Tedenby can be retro'd back to September 17th.

Ack. I know I've seen that before, but keeps slipping my mind. Was such a fixture there for a while. Thanks for the reminder. That certainly does make the option of slipping a player through far more palatable.

technically started last year but yea

that's why we were able to do this with Butler.. otherwise there's no point in trying to sneak a player down since he's either stuck there or even more apt to get claimed on the way back.

I don't know why anyone is excited. Lou will make a move today that provides the least talk, excitement, and news. The most boring decision. Or some kind of trick so we can just wait longer.

Still think the most likely case is that we eat half of volchs salary and give someone tedenby to get rid of him

who's excited?

sounds like most of us are just curious what he will end up doing.

most likely it will be something like Tedenby on IR (despite how fake everyone knows that will be) or a minor move like shipping out Urbom/Gionta for a pick.
