That quote reminded me of the Subban team dinner twitter/IG post shortly after they lost a particularly bad game, though I won't be able to remember the specifics. Could have been last year, could have been 19-20. Think it was around a holiday like Thanksgiving or something? I remember people on here pointing to that as an example of him not really caring about winning, and a few were saying it's being too critical, he can have fun and still care about winning, etc.
It can also be a bit of a defense mechanism. A couple of vets trying harder wasn’t going to make the teams of the past few years competitive. The young players needed to mature and the goaltneindg needed to be sorted. I could see a veteran just taking it a bit easier after thr losses piled up because the alternative was always being angry and crapping on young players that needed guidance not impatience. It’s tricky. I will say that guys who don’t buy in and are just in it for the check aren’t good around a young team. Too much nightlife and partying probably isn’t the best example for a young team. We aren’t privy to much of what went on but Severson cares it’s a shame he will likely have to move on at the end of the season.

Just in case anyone would have thought otherwise, NHL Network DEEP in the Rangers corner. Guys they are excited to see are Panarin and Fox as they predicted a Rangers win.

No surprise though, it's a first place team going up against a 5th place team. What would you expect?
