What league do you think you're watching? In most sports leagues the officials at least try and call things properly, even if they are incompetent. In the NHL, the games are intentionally called terribly.

i also wish the league, in general, had the option to just take a powerplay. Feel like penalty shots are not nearly as big of a 'bonus' as they used to be.

Historically, by the numbers, in game penalty shots are worse than a PP.

The penalty shot score less often than PPs and the opponents scoring isn’t reduced for any length of time. I don’t know if that’s changed since the shootout was introduced.

Not a bad player, but I have seen nothing from him to indicate this isn't a decline in shooting percentage due to a declining player, who's skills are eroding.
