We're still in a good spot. NYR not getting manny chances, we're keeping it to the outside. We're winning the xGF and chances battle. Just keep pushing.

It's crazy how important Bastian is to this team. He may be my favorite player.
It’s less Bastian himself and more they don’t have anyone to step in with the injuries. Palat comes back and you have guys slotted improperly.

In the meantime, I might move Zetterlund back with Nico and Tatar, Bratt with Hughes and Mercer, Haula with Rango and Holtz, and Boq with McLean and Wood.

expected

guy's a sniper that needs to play with someone that can set him up

I'd rather a more 'heavy' center that at least can be good on the boards

maybe Haula down to center that line, Holtz with Hughes could balance things a bit
I don't think that he's going to get any real ice time with Jack this season. I feel like we would have seen this by now

There have been a couple plays like that. Just dumb plays. Nico had a particularly dumb drop pass as he was exiting the D zone back into the D zone that missed the target but luckily ended up with another Devil. Just kinda lax all over the place.
Yeah I thought the same thing about that drop pass and Hughes throwing the puck blindly across the Dzone from the circles. There's some slop that needs to go away.

Big issue with the Boqvist line is their inability to control the puck for extended periods of time. A line that doesn’t have much of an identity.

OT, but i wonder if nyc is too big a market for kakko. feel like a quiet guy like him belongs in somewhere quieter... like winnipeg or detroit
This is not a Kakko thing but in general top prospects when they get drafted to OG6 teams or mainly big Canadian markets. I kinda feel bad for them, especially Euro kids. You get dragged to new country, new league, new style of play for the sole reason cause youre a top-3 or top-5 pick or something whether youre ready or not. And then when you dont produce youre getting compared to McDavid or Matthews or Laine and called a bust. It must do a lot to your confidence.

Kotkaniemi was rushed to MTL and all of a sudden people do the pikachu face when he is not the next Saku Koivu right away. We can argue whether he was worthy of his draft position to begin with, probably not - but there are bunch of examples like that.

You can be the spotlight in places like Montreal or Toronto right away or you can develop at your own pace without too many eyes on you if you play in a smaller market like Florida or Carolina or something.

yeah probably not

but I'd like to see someone that can score playing with Hughes. Haula's great at everything but scoring. Wish we could get a guy like Meier or even Lawson Crouse (just another guy we could've drafted instead of Zacha)
